Its principal market is South Korea, with financial operations elsewhere in Asia and in other international markets.[1]

The group states that its mission is to use financial services to help create happier lives and a better world. At the end of 2025, it had 22,560 employees and reported KRW 17.945 trillion in gross operating profit for the year, a measure of financial-business income rather than conventional sales revenue.[5] [1]

Products & services

KB Financial Group offers banking products through KB Kookmin Bank, including corporate deposits, mortgages and home-equity loans, other consumer loans and overdrafts. Its other financial services include credit cards and installment financing through KB Kookmin Card, financial investment services through KB Securities, and collective investment and advisory services through KB Asset Management.[8]

The group provides life insurance across death, health, pension and variable-insurance categories. Its non-life insurance categories include long-term, general and automobile insurance. Customers can access mobile banking through KB Star Banking, card services through KB Pay and securities trading through KB M-able; KB Liiv M combines mobile telecommunications and financial services.[12][13]

In 2024, banking generated approximately 59% of the group’s net operating revenue from external customers, followed by credit cards at 12%, securities at 10% and non-life insurance at 9%. These are business-segment shares, not revenue shares for individual products.[14] [8]

Geographic presence

KB Financial Group is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. Its principal domestic banking network, operated by Kookmin Bank, comprised 800 branches and sub-branches across Korea at year-end 2024. About 37.8% were in Seoul and 21.1% in the country’s six next-largest cities.[16][17]

The group also operates internationally, particularly in Asia. At year-end 2024, its overseas network comprised 22 subsidiaries, 13 branches and five representative or liaison offices. Its listed locations included China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam. Its Southeast Asian banking presence includes KB PRASAC Bank in Cambodia and PT Bank KB Bukopin in Indonesia.[18][19] [16]

Business segments

KB Financial Group reports Banking business, Securities, Non-life insurance, Credit card, Life insurance and Others as its business segments. Banking is subdivided into Corporate banking, which serves enterprises and small business owners; Retail banking, which serves individuals and households; and Other banking services, which covers securities and derivatives trading, funding and support activities. Securities covers investment banking and brokerage; the two insurance segments provide their respective types of coverage; and Credit card covers card purchases, cash advances and card loans.[20]

On the reported measure of operating income before provisions for credit losses, Banking contributed approximately 62% of the 2025 consolidated total, Securities 9%, Non-life insurance 11%, Credit card 11%, Life insurance 2% and Others 10%. Consolidation adjustments reduced the total by approximately 5%, so the individual segment percentages exceed 100% in aggregate. Within Banking, Corporate banking accounted for about 43% of the banking subtotal, Retail banking 31% and Other banking services 26%. These are shares of operating income before credit-loss provisions, not shares of revenue or profit.[22] [20]

The group expanded its insurance and securities businesses through acquisitions. It brought LIG Insurance into the group in 2015 and renamed it KB Insurance.
