Karman Holdings Inc.

Updated

Overview

Karman Holdings Inc., doing business as Karman Space & Defense, is an aerospace and defense company that designs, tests, manufactures and sells mission-critical systems and subsystems for missile, defense and space programs. Its products span payload protection and deployment systems, aerodynamic and hydro-aerodynamic interstage systems, and propulsion and launch systems.[1][2]

The company is headquartered in Huntington Beach, California, and operates across multiple U.S. locations, including sites in California, Washington, Oregon and Utah.[3][4] Karman states its mission is “to expand what’s possible in space and defense through innovation, integration, and collaboration.” [5]

For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, Karman reported revenue of approximately $471.5 million.[6] The company’s careers page describes a workforce of more than 1,700 skilled professionals.[7] [1]

Products & services

Karman Holdings’ product portfolio includes payload protection and deployment systems—the upper sections of booster, launch-vehicle, payload, and missile systems—and aerodynamic and interstage systems made from metallic and composite materials to improve aerodynamics and support different interstage-separation modes.[8][9] Its propulsion products include integrated solid rocket motors and supporting subsystems, critical subsystems for liquid-fueled rocket motors and launch systems, and ablative composites.[10] Five Axis also designs and manufactures specialized launch-vehicle engine nozzle and fuel systems.[11]

The company provides concept-to-production engineering capabilities, including design, analysis, testing, qualification, and manufacturing.[12] Its cited technical expertise includes advanced-material design, materials science and testing, proprietary digital models, and manufacturing; examples of process IP include solid-rocket-motor nozzles, spun-form shrouds, and solid-propellant-driven actuators.[13][14] Seemann Composites and Materials Sciences add advanced composite systems and materials solutions for maritime-defense applications.[15]

Revenue is reported by end market rather than by individual product family. In the first half of 2026, Hypersonics & Strategic Missile Defense generated $79.105 million (about 23.7% of revenue), Space & Launch $85.926 million (25.8%), Tactical Missiles & Integrated Defense Systems $108.272 million (32.5%), and Maritime Defense $59.970 million (18.0%).[16] The company’s cited product descriptions do not specify quantitative performance parameters such as dimensions, thrust, or operating pressure. [8]

Geographic presence

Karman’s FY2025 Form 10-K lists 13 U.S. facility locations: South El Monte, Corona, Santa Ana, Brea and Huntington Beach, California; Mukilteo, the Skagit/Mount Vernon–Everett area and Arlington, Washington; Wilsonville and Albany, Oregon; Decatur, Alabama; and Ogden and Cedar City, Utah. Its principal executive office is in Huntington Beach, California.[17][18]

In August 2026, Karman completed its acquisition of Scotland-based Walker Precision Engineering, whose operations span Scotland, England and Poland, extending the company’s footprint beyond the United States.[19][20] The company’s FY2025 filing does not disclose revenue by country or region, and its workforce disclosures do not allocate employees geographically.[21] [17]

Business segments

Karman Holdings reports one operating and reportable segment. Its CEO evaluates performance on a consolidated basis, rather than reporting separate financial results for each end market.[22][21] The company also disaggregates revenue across four end markets; for the six months ended June 30, 2026, their approximate shares of revenue were Space & Launch, 25.8%; Tactical Missiles & Integrated Defense Systems, 32.5%; Hypersonics & Strategic Missile Defense, 23.7%; and Maritime Defense Systems, 18.0%. These percentages are calculated from reported end-market revenue and total revenue.[16]

Space & Launch covers payload protection and deployment, aerodynamic interstage, and propulsion solutions for launch providers.[23] Tactical Missiles & Integrated Defense Systems focuses on smaller-diameter rocket and missile technologies and launcher systems for applications including anti-armor, air-to-air, anti-ship, air-to-surface, and surface-to-air.[24] Hypersonics & Strategic Missile Defense serves large-diameter hypersonic and intercontinental missile and interceptor programs.[25] Maritime Defense Systems provides advanced composite systems and materials solutions for maritime defense programs.[15] These are end-market categories, not separately reported operating segments; the company’s product families include Propulsion Systems, Aerodynamic Interstage Systems, and Payload Protection and Deployment Systems.[26] [22]

Company history

Karman LLC was formed on August 20, 2020, and its operating platform began that October with the merger of Aerospace Engineering Corporation and AMRO Fabricating. The company’s formation brought together those aerospace businesses with backing from Trive Capital.[27]

Karman expanded through acquisitions, adding AAE Aerospace in December 2020 and Systima Technologies in September 2021. In 2022, it added carbon-carbon materials technology through a partnership with Cornerstone Research Group to acquire the MG Resin family of technologies.[28]

In 2025, Karman completed an IPO and became Karman Holdings Inc.; that year it also acquired Metal Technology, Industrial Solid Propulsion, and Five Axis Industries. In 2026, it completed the acquisition of Seemann Composites and Materials Sciences, and Jon Rambeau became CEO in March, succeeding Tony Koblinski.[32] [27]
