Examples include cloud data-center server platforms; medical and consumer-health devices; automotive assemblies for advanced vehicle architectures, vision and safety systems; connected consumer products and appliances; retail digital-commerce products; energy-infrastructure power and storage products; and smart controls and security systems for buildings and utilities.[7][8] Its official market materials also describe server, storage and networking platforms for cloud and AI data centers, and healthcare products spanning diagnostics, medical devices, orthopedics and pharmaceutical solutions.[9][10]
Services cover product development and the product lifecycle, including innovation, design, planning, fabrication, assembly, product management, delivery and supply-chain solutions.[1][11] Technical capabilities include electronic hardware and embedded-software design across analog, digital, RF, power, sensor and optical applications; mechanical design of plastic and metal components, enclosures and systems; and consumer-experience design, including user research, industrial and interface design, and human factors.[12][13][14] Jabil also provides optical design for applications such as AR/VR, LiDAR, 3D sensing, projection and imaging, as well as product verification and testing for performance, reliability, durability, failure analysis, regulatory compliance and safety.[15][16]
Jabil describes substantially all of its revenue as arising from production and product-management services that manufacture tangible components to customer specifications.[11] Its disclosures describe products and services by market and capability rather than providing a revenue-percentage breakdown by individual product or product family. Company history
Jabil’s history dates to 1966, when James Golden and William “Bill” Morean began assembling circuit boards; the company was incorporated in 1969, and its name combines the founders’ first names. It began expanding internationally in the 1990s, opening a site in Scotland in 1993 and a factory in Penang, Malaysia, in 1995. In 1999, it acquired Hong Kong-based GET Manufacturing, adding manufacturing capacity and employees.[6]
In 2007, Jabil acquired Taiwan-based Green Point Enterprises, expanding its manufacturing presence and capabilities in Asia. In 2013, it announced the acquisition of Nypro, broadening its reach in healthcare, packaging, and consumer electronics.[6][28]
Jabil’s later leadership transitions included Mark Mondello becoming board chairman in November 2021 and stepping down as CEO when Kenneth Wilson succeeded him in May 2023. Wilson served as CEO until Michael Dastoor was named to the role in May 2024.[29][30][31][32] [29][30][31][6][28][32]
