Overview
iRhythm Technologies, Inc. is a digital health and medical technology company focused on cardiac rhythm monitoring. Its core Zio service combines a prescription ECG patch with software-based analysis and a report for the prescribing physician; the Zio monitor records ECG continuously for up to 14 days.[1] The company’s stated mission is to create trusted solutions to detect and prevent disease.[2]
Founded in 2006 and headquartered in San Francisco, iRhythm reported $747.1 million in revenue for 2025 and approximately 2,400 regular full-time employees at year-end.[3][4] Its business is primarily centered on the U.S., with Zio service launched in Japan in 2025; the company also reported facilities in the United States, Manila, and London.[5][6] [1][2][3][4][5][6][2][5]
Products & services
iRhythm’s Zio monitor is a prescription-only wearable ECG patch that records heart activity continuously for up to 14 days. After the wear period, its ZEUS software analyzes the recorded ECG for specified arrhythmias, and a report is provided electronically to the prescribing physician. The current Zio monitor is described as 72% smaller, 62% lighter, and 23% thinner than the prior-generation Zio XT; it also has breathable adhesive, Bluetooth connectivity, and improved processing efficiency. Zio XT is the previous-generation patch monitor, also designed for continuous recording for up to 14 days.[1][7][8]
Zio AT combines a prescription ECG patch, which records continuously for up to 14 days, with a wireless gateway that connects the patch to ZEUS during wear and transmits data to the cloud over LTE. iRhythm’s monitoring services include long-term continuous monitoring, short-term continuous monitoring, and mobile cardiac telemetry. For long-term monitoring, the patch can capture about 1.5 million heartbeats over up to 14 consecutive days; ZEUS-detected events and technician analysis contribute to a comprehensive end-of-wear report.[9][10][11] A 2025 investor presentation described proposed Zio MCT features including up to 21-day wear and enhanced detection and reporting, but stated that the product was not yet FDA-cleared at that time.[12][13] The cited filing reports revenue growth for Zio monitor and Zio AT together but does not give individual product revenue shares.[14] [1][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]

iRhythm Technologies’ operations are centered in the United States, with its headquarters and clinical center in San Francisco and a manufacturing facility in Cypress, California. It also lists clinical centers in Deerfield, Illinois; Houston, Texas; and Manila, Philippines, and corporate office space in Solana Beach, California, and London, UK.[15]

Its small direct European sales team covers Switzerland, Austria, and the Netherlands; distribution arrangements support Spain and other European markets. In the UK, it has a small direct sales and clinical infrastructure in Bagshot, Surrey. Japan sales and fulfillment use a third-party distributor, and the company launched its service there in May 2025.[16][17][5] FY2025 reporting does not provide revenue by country or region; it describes the business as one reporting unit.[18] [15][16][17][5][18][5]
Business segments
iRhythm Technologies reports one operating and reportable segment: its global ambulatory cardiac monitoring business. The company’s offerings within this segment include long-term continuous cardiac monitoring and mobile cardiac telemetry services used to detect and diagnose arrhythmias. These offerings are not reported as separate segments.[19][11]
The single reportable segment represents 100% of reported company revenue; the company does not disclose revenue contributions for separate product or service segments. Its 2026 second-quarter filing confirms the one-segment structure.[20] [19][11][20]
Company history
iRhythm Technologies was founded in 2006 by Dr. Uday N. Kumar, who developed the company out of Stanford Biodesign’s Innovation Fellowship.[21] Its Zio Patch received FDA clearance in 2009 and entered U.S. commercial launch in 2011; in 2010, iRhythm also announced a co-marketing partnership with St. Jude Medical.[22][23]
The company went public in October 2016, and the FDA cleared its Zio AT ECG Monitoring System in 2017.[24][25] After a series of CEO transitions in 2020–21, Quentin Blackford became president and CEO in October 2021.[26][27][28] In 2023, iRhythm launched a next-generation Zio monitor and enhanced service.[29] In 2026, it completed a holding-company reorganization, with iRhythm Holdings becoming successor registrant, and announced a proposed acquisition of VitalConnect.[30][31] [30][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][31]
