Overview
Iovance Biotherapeutics, Inc. is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and delivering tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) cell therapies for solid tumors. Its mission is to advance TIL therapies by innovating, developing and delivering treatments that use a patient’s own tumor-reactive immune cells.[1][2]
Its leading product, Amtagvi (lifileucel), is an individualized TIL therapy approved for adults with previously treated advanced melanoma; Proleukin is also a marketed product. The company’s commercial reach includes the United States, Canada and Australia, supported by more than 95 authorized treatment centers across those markets as of the second quarter of 2026.[3][4][5]
Iovance reported $170.7 million in net revenue for the first half of 2026, including sales of Amtagvi and Proleukin. Its operations include a commercial manufacturing and laboratory facility in Philadelphia, as well as facilities in San Carlos, California, and Tampa, Florida.[6][7][8][9] [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
Products & services
IOVANCE’s marketed cell therapy is AMTAGVI® (lifileucel), an individualized, autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy. In the United States, it is indicated for adults with unresectable or metastatic melanoma previously treated with a PD‑1 blocking antibody and, when applicable, BRAF-targeted therapy. Treatment involves lymphodepletion followed by infusion of the patient’s expanded TILs and a short course of Proleukin.[10][3][11]
PROLEUKIN® (aldesleukin), an interleukin-2 product, is marketed by Iovance and is also used in the AMTAGVI treatment regimen. Its U.S. label includes adults with metastatic renal cell carcinoma and metastatic melanoma.[3][12]
Lifileucel is also under investigation in combination with pembrolizumab for frontline advanced melanoma and as a treatment for previously treated advanced non-small cell lung cancer and soft-tissue sarcoma; Iovance’s pipeline also lists investigational endometrial and cervical cancer settings. These uses are investigational, not approved AMTAGVI indications.[10][13][14]
The TIL process uses tumor material from an individual patient to isolate and expand T cells before infusion. Iovance reports a turnaround time of 31 days or less for AMTAGVI and delivers treatment through authorized treatment centers.[15][16] [10][3][13][15][16][11][12][14][11][12][14]
Geographic presence
Iovance’s principal manufacturing and TIL production operations are in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at its 136,000-square-foot iCTC facility. The company says the facility supports delivery to treatment centers in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific; this describes its stated service reach, not a breakdown of sales by region.[17][8] In January 2026, Iovance ended manufacturing at Minaris and centralized Amtagvi and investigational TIL manufacturing at the Philadelphia facility.[18]
Iovance identifies leased corporate office space in San Carlos, California; manufacturing, research labs, and offices in Philadelphia; and research lab facilities in Tampa, Florida.[9] Its contact page labels Philadelphia as its global headquarters and lists corporate and research locations in San Carlos and Tampa.[19]
The cited company disclosures do not provide revenue percentages by country or region, nor an employee breakdown by geography. The company describes Proleukin as global, but does not provide a geographic sales split in the sources reviewed.[20] [17][8][18][9][19][20][19]
Business segments
Iovance Biotherapeutics reports one operating segment: innovating, developing, and commercializing autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) cell therapies for solid-tumor cancers. It identifies Amtagvi as the first product in its autologous TIL platform and Proleukin as a product marketed for use in the Amtagvi treatment regimen; these are product disclosures, not separate reportable segments.[21]
For the six months ended June 30, 2026, product revenue was approximately 88.4% Amtagvi ($150.943 million) and 11.6% Proleukin ($19.800 million), out of $170.743 million in total net revenue.[7] Geographic revenue for the same period was approximately 99.2% U.S. and 0.8% rest of world.[22] These product and geographic splits describe revenue composition, not additional operating segments. Company history
The company’s corporate lineage dates to 2007, when it was incorporated as Freight Management Corp. It became Genesis Biopharma, Inc. in 2010 and began its current business in 2011. The company adopted the name Lion Biotechnologies in 2013, then changed its name to Iovance Biotherapeutics in 2017.[23][24][25]
Iovance’s focus on tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy developed through its NIH-related research license, effective in 2011, and a 2015 cooperative research agreement with the National Cancer Institute to develop TIL immunotherapy for multiple cancers. That year, Lion opened enrollment in a Phase 2 trial of LN-144, later named lifileucel, for advanced melanoma.[26][25][27] Maria Fardis became President and CEO in 2016; in 2021, Frederick G. Vogt became interim President and CEO.[28][29]
During the late 2010s and early 2020s, Iovance advanced lifileucel through clinical development and expanded manufacturing capacity, including construction and commissioning of its Philadelphia cell therapy center.[30][31] In 2023, it acquired worldwide rights to Proleukin (aldesleukin); in February 2024, the FDA approved lifileucel, branded Amtagvi, for certain adults with unresectable or metastatic melanoma, making it the first FDA-approved cellular therapy for a solid-tumor indication.[20][32] In 2026, the company centralized manufacturing at its Philadelphia facility and reported Amtagvi’s approval in Australia.[33][16] [23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][20][32][33][16][24][27][28][29][32]
