Overview

Intercorp Financial Services Inc. (IFS) is a financial-services group focused primarily on Peru. Its core businesses span banking, insurance, wealth management and payments, delivered through operating companies including Interbank, Interseguro, Inteligo, Interfondos and Izipay.[1][2]

IFS describes its purpose as “building financial well-being together,” supporting customers’ financial well-being in the future while helping them enjoy the present.[3] Its activities are concentrated in Peru, with some wealth-management entities also based or operating in Panama, The Bahamas and the United States.[1][4]

The holding company was incorporated in Panama on September 19, 2006.[5] A third-party company-data source lists 9,229 employees at December 31, 2025; the latest company report identified in the available research was for the year ended December 31, 2025.[6][7] [1]

Products & services

Interbank offers retail banking products including deposit accounts, credit cards, personal and payroll-deduction loans, payment services and merchant financing. Named offerings include the Piggybank digital savings account and Interbank Benefit loyalty program. Its mobile app supports Plin, a 24/7, commission-free peer-to-peer and QR-code payment service interoperable across participating financial institutions; it also supports transit-card reloads. An AI-enabled WhatsApp feature lets customers make transfers and payments.[8]

Interseguro provides regulated and private annuities, individual life insurance, credit life, and retail and bancassurance products. Individual-life policies provide life coverage, often with a savings component. Credit-life insurance covers death or disability and can pay debts associated with mortgages, credit cards and personal loans; other retail products include SOAT traffic-accident, car, travel and credit-card-protection insurance. In 2025, life and annuities premiums were 94.1% of Interseguro’s total premiums. Within that insurance line, private annuities accounted for 27.6%, credit life 18.9%, individual life 18.4%, previsional insurance 13.6% and regulated annuities 6.7%; these are product shares within the line, not shares of IFS consolidated revenue.[12]

Inteligo’s wealth-management offerings include banking through Inteligo Bank, brokerage through Inteligo SAB, mutual-fund management through Interfondos, and multi-family-office services through Veltria. Inteligo Bank primarily serves clients with US$500,000–US$10 million in investable assets; its lending is offered to wealth-management customers and secured by their assets.[18][19] [8]

Geographic presence

Intercorp Financial Services’ geographic operations are concentrated in Peru: its 2025 annual reporting states that substantially all of its operations are conducted there. Interbank’s Peruvian network comprised 146 financial stores, more than 1,638 ATMs and 8,000 correspondent agents at December 31, 2025.[4][20]

The group also has a cross-border wealth-management presence. Inteligo Bank operates a branch in Panama, while the report identifies subsidiaries organized in Peru, Panama, The Bahamas and New York, U.S.; these incorporation locations do not by themselves establish the scale of operations in each jurisdiction. Inteligo entities are subject to regulation in Peru, Panama and The Bahamas.[21]

The available reporting describes Peru as the dominant operating geography but does not provide a quantified country-by-country revenue split or employee distribution.[4] [4]

Business segments

For FY2025, Intercorp Financial Services reported three business segments: **Banking**, which includes Interbank’s retail and commercial banking services for individuals, large companies and SMEs, as well as Izipay’s digital payment processing and technology solutions; **Insurance**, focused on life and annuities insurance, retail insurance and bancassurance; and **Wealth management**, which includes wealth management, brokerage, mutual-fund management and multi-family-office services.[23]

Using third-party total income as the contribution measure, Banking accounted for approximately **68.7%** (S/7,778,285 thousand), Insurance **20.5%** (S/2,318,167 thousand), and Wealth management **4.6%** (S/521,218 thousand) of consolidated third-party total income of S/11,326,379 thousand. The remaining approximately **6.3%** was reported as “Holding, other subsidiaries and eliminations,” rather than as a business segment.[24] [23]

Company history

Intercorp Financial Services Inc. (IFS) was incorporated in Panama on September 19, 2006, as a subsidiary of Intercorp Peru and began operations in January 2007.[5] Its shares were offered publicly in Peru and privately abroad in 2007.[25] The businesses that later formed part of IFS had earlier roots: Banco Internacional del Perú was incorporated in 1897, acquired by Corporación Interbank in 1994, and later took the Interbank name; Intercorp Peru established Interseguro in 1998 and acquired the remaining stake in 2000.[26][27]

IFS expanded its financial-services businesses in 2014 by acquiring all of Intercorp Peru’s shares in Inteligo, its wealth-management business, in exchange for IFS shares.[28] In July 2019, IFS completed a public offering registered in the United States, and its shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange.[29][30] In 2022, it acquired payments company Izipay.[31] [5]
