Overview

Ingersoll Rand Inc. is a global industrial technology company that provides equipment and services for moving, compressing and handling air, gases and liquids. Its two businesses are Industrial Technologies and Services, which includes compressors, vacuum and blower equipment, power tools and aftermarket services, and Precision and Science Technologies, which includes pumps, liquid-handling systems and products for life-science and medical applications.[1]

The company’s stated purpose is “Making Life Better.” It serves customers globally and has more than 21,000 employees across over 50 countries. In 2025, it reported revenue of approximately $7.7 billion. The present-day company took the Ingersoll Rand name in 2020, following the combination of Gardner Denver with Ingersoll Rand’s former Industrial segment.[4] [1]

Products & services

Ingersoll Rand’s Industrial Technologies and Services products include air and gas compressors, air-treatment equipment, vacuum pumps, blowers, fluid-transfer equipment, loading systems, power tools and lifting equipment. Its compressor range includes reciprocating, oil-flooded, oil-free, centrifugal and high-pressure designs; its oil-free rotary-screw compressors are certified to ISO 8573-1:2010 Class 0 for applications requiring high air purity. The NASH CL liquid-ring vacuum-pump series, for example, is specified for 140–9,700 actual cubic feet per minute and vacuum down to 100 millibars absolute.[2]

Its Precision and Science Technologies products handle precise dosing, dispensing, pumping, gas compression, sampling and flow control. The portfolio includes diaphragm, peristaltic, gear, progressive-cavity and syringe pumps; gas boosters and hydrogen-compression systems; automated liquid-handling equipment; and single-use powder and liquid-handling systems for life-sciences applications. ARO electronic-interface diaphragm pumps support electronically controlled dosing in sizes from ¼ inch to 3 inches.[3][12]

Services and aftermarket offerings include replacement parts, lubricants, preventive maintenance, remanufacturing and equipment-performance support. Compressors typically require regular service throughout their operating lives, making maintenance and parts an ongoing part of the company’s offering.[13] [2]

Business segments

Ingersoll Rand reports two business segments. **Industrial Technologies and Services** designs, manufactures and services compression and vacuum equipment, fluid-transfer equipment and loading systems. It also supplies aftermarket parts, air-treatment equipment, controls and other accessories. Its products serve applications including industrial manufacturing, transportation, chemical processing, food and beverage production, and energy. The segment generated approximately 79% of company revenue in 2025.[24][8]

**Precision and Science Technologies** supplies specialized pumps, fluid-management equipment, single-use powder-handling systems, and components and assemblies for medical devices. Its products are used in medical and laboratory settings as well as industrial, water and wastewater, chemical-processing, energy, food and beverage, and agricultural markets. The segment generated approximately 21% of company revenue in 2025.[25][8] [24]

Company history

Ingersoll Rand Inc. draws on two industrial lineages. Gardner Denver traces its origins to 1859, while Simon Ingersoll established the Ingersoll Rock Drill Company in 1871. A separate predecessor of the latter, Rand & Waring Drill & Compressor Company, was formed in 1872. In 1905, the Ingersoll-Sergeant Drill Company and Rand Drill Company merged to form Ingersoll-Rand.[26]

KKR acquired Gardner Denver in 2013, and the company returned to the public market in 2017. In February 2020, Gardner Denver combined with the industrial segment spun off from Ingersoll-Rand plc; the combined company adopted the name Ingersoll Rand Inc. The former plc’s remaining climate business became Trane Technologies.[29] [26]
