Company profile

ImmunityBio, Inc.

Updated

Overview

ImmunityBio, Inc. is a biotechnology company developing and commercializing immunotherapies for cancer and infectious diseases. Its approach combines innate and adaptive immune responses, including its Cancer BioShield platform and IL-15 superagonist ANKTIVA. ANKTIVA, used with BCG, is its defining commercial product for BCG-unresponsive non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer with carcinoma in situ; the company also develops vaccines, cell therapies, and other immunotherapies.[1]

The company’s stated mission is “to continuously pursue new therapies that kill disease, not the immune system,” and it was founded in 2014.[5][6] Its filings describe ANKTIVA approvals or authorizations in five regulatory jurisdictions and a footprint spanning 34 countries.[3] ImmunityBio reported total revenue of $113.3 million for 2025 and $95.4 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026.[7][8] [1]

Products & services

ImmunityBio’s principal commercial product is ANKTIVA® (nogapendekin alfa inbakicept-pmln, or N-803), an IL-15 receptor superagonist antibody–cytokine fusion protein. It is used with Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) to treat adults with BCG-unresponsive non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) with carcinoma in situ, with or without papillary tumors. The product is designed to stimulate natural killer (NK) and killer T cells.[9]

The company’s pipeline includes ANKTIVA combinations for additional cancers and settings: with BCG for BCG-unresponsive papillary bladder disease and BCG-naïve NMIBC; with a checkpoint inhibitor for metastatic non-small cell lung cancer; and with PD-L1 CAR-NK cells for recurrent glioblastoma and pancreatic cancer. Other disclosed candidates include CD19 CAR-NK cells with rituximab for non-Hodgkin lymphoma, M-ceNK cells for solid tumors, and an Ad-HPV vaccine candidate. The filing lists these programs at varying clinical stages, from Phase 1 through Phase 3, and does not provide further technical specifications for the broader vaccine and NK-cell platforms in the cited portfolio disclosures.[4][12]

ImmunityBio reports that it manufactures its approved product and candidates at its own facilities, facilities owned by entities affiliated with Dr. Soon-Shiong, and/or through contract manufacturing organizations; the reviewed filings do not identify a separate fee-for-service offering. Net product revenue was $94.839 million for the first half of 2026, approximately 99.4% of total revenue for that period.[13] [9]

Geographic presence

ImmunityBio’s principal executive office is in San Diego, California. Its FY2025 property schedule lists U.S. sites in San Diego, El Segundo and Culver City, California; Louisville, Colorado; Summit, New Jersey; and Dunkirk, New York, which was identified as a future manufacturing facility. The schedule also lists a research and office site in Italy.[15][16]

The company reported one operating and reportable segment, but its FY2025 filing does not provide revenue by country or region, geographic revenue percentages, or an employee-location breakdown. It notes that some clinical research, investigational-site and supplier activity involves foreign countries.[17][18]

Commercially, ANKTIVA had U.S. approval and UK approval by the end of 2025. Subsequent company announcements reported EU authorization and a distribution partnership covering 30 countries, as well as availability in Saudi Arabia; these are post-FY2025 developments.[19] [15]

Business segments

ImmunityBio, Inc. reports one operating and reportable segment, focused on developing and commercializing immunotherapies intended to activate the immune system and provide durable protection against cancer and infectious diseases. The company does not report separate business-segment contributions.[23][24]

As a revenue-category proxy—not a segment breakdown—net product revenue represented approximately 99.4% of total revenue in the six months ended June 30, 2026; other revenues accounted for approximately 0.6%. ANKTIVA was identified as the commercial product driving revenue growth.[8][25] [23]

Company history

ImmunityBio traces its origins to NantCell, founded in 2014 by Patrick Soon-Shiong to develop immunotherapies for cancer and infectious diseases [5][26]. In 2017, NantCell acquired Altor BioScience, bringing the N-803 program into the company [27]. On March 9, 2021, ImmunityBio and NantKwest completed a merger; the combined company took the ImmunityBio name and began trading on Nasdaq as IBRX the following day [28][29].

The company pursued regulatory approval of N-803, later branded ANKTIVA, with BCG for BCG-unresponsive non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. After an FDA complete response letter in May 2023, it resubmitted the application that October [30]. The FDA approved ANKTIVA with BCG on April 22, 2024, marking ImmunityBio’s first U.S. product approval [31]. The UK approved the treatment in July 2025, followed by conditional marketing authorization from the European Commission in February 2026 [32][33].
