Overview

IDEX Corporation is a global manufacturer of specialized, mission-critical components and applied solutions for niche markets. Its three core businesses are Health & Science Technologies, Fluid & Metering Technologies, and Fire & Safety/Diversified Products, with products spanning precision fluidics and optics, pumps and flow-control equipment, and firefighting and rescue tools.[1][2]

The company serves customers worldwide, with operations on five continents and manufacturing in more than 20 countries. IDEX reported approximately 9,000 employees in 2025 and FY2025 net sales of $3.46 billion.[3]

IDEX describes its mission as creating trusted solutions that improve lives; its stated values are Trust, Team and Excellence.[6][1] [1]

Products & services

IDEX’s portfolio spans three product groups. Health & Science Technologies (HST) includes precision-fluidics products, positive-displacement pumps, chromatography hardware and components such as degassers, manifolds, sensors, detectors and valves; microfluidic systems and consumables for point-of-care diagnostics and digital PCR; and processing equipment including Quadro milling and emulsification systems, Fitzpatrick size-reduction and roll-compaction equipment, and Microfluidizer high-shear processors. The segment also offers medical devices and implantables, optics and imaging products, compressors and blowers, technical ceramics, hermetic seals, porous materials, mixers and hygienic valves.[7]

Fluid & Metering Technologies (FMT) sells positive-displacement pumps, valves, flow meters, injectors, small-volume provers and fluid-handling systems. Pump offerings include Viking internal- and external-gear, vane, lobe and circumferential-piston pumps for liquids ranging from thin to viscous; air- and electric-operated double-diaphragm pumps for abrasive or semisolid fluids; and reciprocating pumps for mining and wastewater applications. Other products and services include water metering and flow monitoring, sewer-inspection crawlers and software, water-treatment chemical-dosing pumps, and high-purity pumps and deionized-water heaters.[13]

Fire & Safety/Diversified Products (FSDP) includes truck-mounted and portable firefighting pumps, monitors, nozzles, foam systems, pump modules, controls and fittings; hydraulic rescue tools, recycling cutters, re-railing equipment and pneumatic rescue bags; stainless-steel banding, buckles and clamping systems; and equipment for dispensing, metering and mixing colorants and paints. Its named brands include Hale, Godiva, Akron Brass, Weldon, AWG Fittings, Hurst Jaws of Life, Lukas, Vetter and BAND-IT.[23]

In fiscal 2025, external-customer sales were $3,457.5 million: HST $1,490.7 million (43.1%), FMT $1,222.5 million (35.4%) and FSDP $744.3 million (21.5%). For the six months ended June 30, 2026, sales were $1,807.5 million: HST $811.4 million (44.9%), FMT $618.0 million (34.2%) and FSDP $378.1 million (20.9%). These are segment-level shares; product-line revenue percentages were not reported.[5][28] [7]

Geographic presence

IDEX reported 2025 net sales by customer geography of $1,760.8 million in the U.S., $129.7 million in North America excluding the U.S., $846.2 million in Europe, $563.0 million in Asia, and $165.1 million in Other markets. The schedule also shows a $7.3 million intersegment elimination and consolidated net sales of $3,457.5 million; because regional figures include intersegment sales before elimination, they should not be read as shares of consolidated sales.[29]

The company describes operations across the U.S., Canada, Europe, India, China, and Japan, with additional business-unit operations or distribution facilities cited in Australia and Brazil. Disclosed examples include IDEX Health & Science locations in the U.S., Germany, and Japan; Materials Science Solutions operations in the U.S., Canada, England, the Netherlands, and India; and Richter/Aegis operations in Germany, China, India, and Louisiana. These are examples, not a complete facilities list.[8] IDEX reported approximately 8,700 employees as of December 31, 2025, but did not provide a country or regional breakdown in the cited disclosure.[34] [29]

Business segments

IDEX reports three operating and reportable segments: Health & Science Technologies (HST), Fluid & Metering Technologies (FMT), and Fire & Safety/Diversified Products (FSDP).[2]

HST provides precision fluidics and positive-displacement pumps, processing and drying technologies, micro-precision and pneumatic components, sealing solutions, hygienic mixers and valves, medical devices, compressors and blowers, and optical, photonic, ceramic and porous-material products. Its markets include life sciences, industrial, semiconductor, energy, space and defense, and food and beverage. HST generated approximately 43% of FY2025 segment sales ($1,490.7 million).[35][5]

FMT supplies positive-displacement pumps, valves, flow meters, small-volume provers, injectors and fluid-handling systems, as well as flow-monitoring services, for industrial, water, energy, chemical and agriculture markets. It accounted for approximately 35% of FY2025 segment sales ($1,222.5 million). FSDP supplies firefighting pumps, valves and controls, rescue tools, engineered banding and clamping products, and equipment for dispensing, metering and mixing colorants and paints; its markets include fire suppression, rescue, automotive, aviation and industrial applications. FSDP contributed approximately 22% ($744.3 million). Shares are calculated from FY2025 external-customer sales of $3,457.5 million.[36] [2]

Company history

IDEX was incorporated on September 24, 1988, beginning with three entrepreneurial U.S. manufacturing companies. It listed on the New York Stock Exchange on June 2, 1989, marking an early milestone in its development as a publicly traded company.[38][39]

In 2020, Eric D. Ashleman succeeded Andrew K. Silvernail as chief executive officer, effective December 15.[40] IDEX expanded through acquisitions in the following years, completing purchases including Airtech Group and US Valve in 2021, Muon Group in 2022, Iridian Spectral Technologies in 2023, and STC Material Solutions in December 2023.[41]

In 2024, IDEX completed its acquisition of Mott Corporation, extending its portfolio in applied materials science. In 2025, it announced the acquisition of Micro-LAM, adding laser-assisted machining capabilities.[45][46] [38]
