Overview
IDACORP Inc. is a Boise-based U.S. holding company whose principal operating subsidiary, Idaho Power, is a regulated electric utility. Idaho Power generates, transmits, distributes and sells electricity, primarily in southern Idaho and eastern Oregon; hydropower is an important part of its generation resources. IDACORP’s operations are regional rather than global.[1][2]
For 2025, IDACORP reported approximately $1.813 billion in operating revenue. Company materials report 664,214 customers at year-end 2025 and nearly 2,200 employees. Its stated strategic focus is on strengthening and improving its core utility business.[3][4][1][2] [1][2][3][4]
Products & services
Idaho Power, IDACORP’s principal operating subsidiary, supplies electric energy and capacity to retail customers in southern Idaho and eastern Oregon. Its offerings include electricity for residential, commercial, industrial, and irrigation customers, as well as wholesale electricity sales and transmission service.[5][6]
Electricity is generated from hydropower and thermal resources, including the Hells Canyon Complex—Brownlee, Oxbow, and Hells Canyon—and facilities such as Jim Bridger, Danskin, Langley Gulch, Bennett Mountain, and North Valmy. IDACORP’s 2025 facility data lists approximately 3.64 GW of total nameplate generating capacity, split between hydropower and steam/other resources.[7] Transmission service is also offered under Idaho Power’s FERC open-access tariff.[6] [5][6][7]
Geographic presence
IDACORP’s principal operating geography is Idaho Power’s electric service territory, covering about 24,000 square miles in southern Idaho and eastern Oregon. At December 31, 2025, the utility served approximately 664,000 retail customers; its franchises covered 69 Idaho cities and 9 Oregon cities, and its service certificates covered all or part of 25 Idaho counties and 3 Oregon counties.[5][8]
IDACORP and Idaho Power are headquartered at 1221 W. Idaho Street, Boise, Idaho 83702. IDACORP reports utility operations as its only reportable segment; the cited historical information presents revenue by customer class rather than a state-by-state geographic split.[9][10][3]
The 2025 service-area figures describe the pre-sale footprint: in February 2026, Idaho Power agreed to sell its Oregon electric distribution business and certain transmission assets to Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative. As of the company’s May 2026 announcement, the proposed transfer was awaiting approvals.[8][11] [5][8][9][10][3][11]
Business segments
IDACORP reports Utility Operations as its only reportable segment. It primarily comprises Idaho Power’s regulated generation, transmission, distribution, purchase, and sale of electricity, as well as regulated subsidiary IERCo and a one-third investment in BCC. The company also presents “All Other,” an aggregation of operations below reportable-segment thresholds: IFS affordable-housing and other real-estate tax-credit investments, Ida-West small-hydropower joint ventures, and IDACORP holding-company expenses.[10][12]
For 2025, Utility Operations accounted for approximately 99.8% of consolidated revenue ($1.810 billion of $1.813 billion) and 97.6% of net income attributable to IDACORP ($315.9 million of $323.5 million). All Other contributed approximately 0.2% of revenue ($3.4 million) and 2.4% of net income ($7.6 million).[13] [10][12][13][13][13][13][13][13]
Company history
Idaho Power’s predecessor was organized in 1915, and the utility began operating in 1916. It was reincorporated in Idaho in 1989.[14][15]
A major expansion of Idaho Power’s hydroelectric system came with construction of the Hells Canyon complex: Brownlee Dam was completed in 1959, Oxbow Dam in 1961, and Hells Canyon Dam began generating electricity in 1967.[16]
On October 1, 1998, IDACORP became the parent holding company of Idaho Power following a corporate reorganization. In 2002, it decided to wind down its energy-marketing business and, in 2003, agreed to sell its wholesale electricity-contract portfolio.[14][17] [14][15][16][17]
