HUBER+SUHNER’s latest available full-year reporting is FY2025. It reports three business segments: **Industry**, **Communication** and **Transportation**. FY2025 net sales were CHF 325.2 million for Industry, CHF 274.4 million for Communication and CHF 264.5 million for Transportation, against group sales of CHF 864.1 million. These represent approximately 37.6%, 31.8% and 30.6% of group sales, respectively; percentages are calculated from reported sales figures and rounded.[21]
**Industry** serves Test & Measurement, Aerospace & Defense, High Power Charging and General Industrial markets.[22][23] **Communication** serves mobile and fixed-access networks, data centers and communication-equipment manufacturers, with connectivity solutions including fiber-optic and radio-frequency systems.[2] **Transportation** serves railway and automotive markets, with products including cables, cable assemblies and systems, antennas, radar and connectors.[24] The company also describes submarkets within these segments; these are market categories rather than a separate reported revenue segmentation.[1][25] [21][21][21][21][22][23][2][24][1][25]
Company history
HUBER+SUHNER traces its roots to two Swiss businesses: Suhner & Co., established in Herisau in 1864 and initially making metal cables for looms, and R. & E. Huber, founded in Pfäffikon in 1882 with textile-industry origins. The two companies merged in 1969 to form HUBER+SUHNER AG.[26]
The company expanded its production footprint in 2000, establishing fiber-optics production in Kollbrunn, Switzerland, and a railway-cable and cable-systems assembly plant in Daventry, Great Britain; in 2013 it opened a production site in Changzhou, China.[26][27]
From 2012 to 2019, HUBER+SUHNER broadened its technologies and geographic reach through acquisitions including Astrolab, Cube Optics, Polatis, Inwave, Kathrein’s antenna business and BKtel. Urs Ryffel became CEO in 2017, while former CEO Urs Kaufmann became Chairman; in 2021 and 2022, acquisitions of ROADMap Systems and Phoenix Dynamics added optical-network and electro-mechanical connectivity capabilities.[27][28][29][30] [26][27][28][29][30]
