Updated

Overview

Halozyme Therapeutics, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company that develops and licenses drug-delivery technologies intended to improve patient experiences and outcomes. Its principal platform, ENHANZE, uses recombinant human hyaluronidase (rHuPH20) to enable subcutaneous delivery of medicines; the company also develops Hypercon and Surf Bio technologies and drug-device products. Its proprietary products include Hylenex and XYOSTED.[1] Halozyme’s mission is to improve patient experiences and outcomes.[5]

Headquartered in San Diego, California, Halozyme works with biopharmaceutical partners whose commercial ENHANZE products are available in up to 100 markets globally.[6] The company reported 423 full-time employees as of February 10, 2026, and revenue of $857.7 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026.[9][10] [1]

Products & services

Halozyme’s ENHANZE® platform uses recombinant human hyaluronidase PH20 (rHuPH20) to temporarily break down hyaluronan in subcutaneous tissue, enabling subcutaneous delivery of medicines that might otherwise require intravenous infusion. Partner products include DARZALEX FASPRO, Phesgo, TECENTRIQ SC and OCREVUS SC; examples of reported administration times include 3–5 minutes for DARZALEX FASPRO, about seven minutes for TECENTRIQ SC, and ten minutes for twice-yearly OCREVUS SC.[11] Halozyme also markets HYLENEX recombinant and XYOSTED, a testosterone product delivered by autoinjector.[15]

Other delivery technologies include Hypercon®, designed to concentrate drugs and biologics into smaller injection volumes, and Surf Bio’s preclinical platform, which is being developed to enable biologic concentrations of up to 500 mg/mL. Halozyme also develops, manufactures and commercializes drug-device combination products, including pressure-assisted autoinjectors. Its partner services include supplying bulk rHuPH20 and providing research and development support for formulation work under certain Hypercon collaborations.[16]

In FY2025, net product sales were $376.4 million: proprietary products contributed $194.6 million (about 52%), bulk rHuPH20 $133.0 million (35%), and device-partnered products $48.8 million (13%). Royalty revenue was $867.8 million; ENHANZE agreements generally generate royalties averaging a mid-single-digit percentage of partner product sales.[22] [11]

Geographic presence

Halozyme Therapeutics is headquartered in San Diego, California, where it conducts operations including laboratory, office, and research activities. Its FY2025 disclosures also identify leased facilities in Minnetonka, Minnesota, including office, assembly, and warehousing space; two office and laboratory buildings in Boston, Massachusetts; and a small administrative office in Ewing, New Jersey. The company reported approximately 196,000 square feet of leased space. Its principal executive office address remained in San Diego in the Q2 2026 filing.[25]

Halozyme reported 423 full-time employees as of February 10, 2026, but did not disclose their geographic distribution. Partner products using Halozyme technology are approved or marketed in markets including the United States, Europe, Japan, and China; these are partner-product markets rather than evidence of Halozyme-operated offices in those regions.[9] The company does not provide a country- or region-level revenue breakdown in the cited filings; it reports one operating segment managed on an aggregate basis.[30][31] [25]

Business segments

Halozyme reports one operating and reportable segment, rather than separate business segments. It encompasses research, development and commercialization of its proprietary enzymes, devices, Hypercon and Surf Bio technologies; research, development and manufacturing under partner agreements; sales of proprietary and partnered products; and related selling, general and administrative activities. The company does not report segment-level revenue or profit contributions.[30][31] The single-segment conclusion was reaffirmed in its Q2 2026 filing.[32][33]

Revenue categories provide a breakdown of the business, but are not reported segments. In FY2025, royalties contributed approximately 62.1% of revenue, proprietary product sales 13.9%, bulk rHuPH20 sales 9.5%, device-partnered product sales 3.5%, and collaborative-agreement revenue 10.9%.[34] For the six months ended June 30, 2026, the respective contributions were approximately 63.9%, 11.3%, 15.5%, 3.5%, and 5.7%.[10] [30]

Company history

Halozyme was founded in 1998, according to a contemporaneous interview with its then-CEO; a later SEC filing identifies Gregory I. Frost as a co-founder.[35][36] The FDA approved Hylenex recombinant in December 2005, and the product launched for pediatric hydration in 2009.[37][38]

Beginning in 2006, Halozyme entered collaborations to develop medicines using its rHuPH20/ENHANZE drug-delivery technology, including agreements with Roche and Takeda, followed by partnerships with Pfizer, Janssen and Lilly.[39] Partnered products reached market in the 2010s: Roche launched Herceptin SC in Europe in 2013, and Takeda’s HYQVIA received European authorization in 2013 and U.S. approval in 2014.[44] Helen Torley became president and CEO in January 2014.[48]

The partnered product portfolio continued to expand, including launches or approvals for MabThera SC, DARZALEX FASPRO and Phesgo.[49] Halozyme completed its acquisition of Antares in 2022 and acquired Elektrofi and Surf Bio in 2025, expanding its drug-delivery technology portfolio.[50] [39]
