GXO Logistics, Inc.

Updated

Overview

GXO Logistics, Inc. is a global contract-logistics company that provides technology-enabled warehousing and distribution, order fulfillment, e-commerce and reverse-logistics services, and customized supply-chain solutions. Its business is focused on managing logistics operations for customers rather than transporting freight as a standalone carrier.[1]

GXO describes its purpose as “changing the game in logistics” by engineering faster, leaner and smarter supply chains. The company reports operations in 27 countries and approximately 150,000 team members.[2]

For the year ended December 31, 2025, GXO reported revenue of $13.178 billion. It became an independent publicly traded company on August 2, 2021, following its spin-off from XPO.[3][4] [1]

Products & services

GXO Logistics provides customized contract-logistics services rather than discrete physical products. Its offerings include warehousing and distribution, order fulfillment and e-commerce logistics, reverse logistics, packaging and labeling, inventory management, and factory and aftermarket support. Customer contracts may combine multiple services with facilities, equipment, labor, maintenance, and related infrastructure.[5]

Named offerings include GXO Direct, a multi-client fulfillment service; transportation solutions offered on managed, dedicated, or multi-client bases; manufacturing support such as inbound logistics, inventory control, kitting, subassembly, and line-side parts delivery; and GXO ServiceTech, which handles electronics and appliance returns, testing, repair, refurbishment, warranty services, warehousing, and resale. Reverse-logistics services include returns inspection, repackaging, refurbishment, and return-to-retail or disposal.[8]

GXO’s operational capabilities include autonomous goods-to-person systems, collaborative robots, robotic arms, scanners and wearable vision, vertical lift modules, and sortation technology, used for tasks such as picking and repetitive handling.[13] GXO reports one operating segment and does not provide revenue percentages by individual product or service.[5][6] [5]

Geographic presence

GXO Logistics operated in 26 countries at December 31, 2025, and grouped its operations into the Americas and Asia-Pacific, the United Kingdom and Ireland, and Continental Europe. These operating segments are aggregated into one reportable segment.[16] For the six months ended June 30, 2026, revenue was $3,279 million in the United Kingdom (48.7%); $1,533 million in the United States (22.7%); $526 million in the Netherlands (7.8%); $421 million in France (6.2%); $343 million in Spain (5.1%); and $221 million in Italy (3.3%). The remaining $416 million (6.2%) was reported as “Other.” Percentages are calculated from the reported country figures and total revenue of $6,739 million.[19]

At year-end 2025, approximately 154,000 people worked for GXO, including about 105,000 employees and 49,000 temporary agency workers. The company reported workforce distribution of 52% in the UK, 27% in Europe excluding the UK, 20% in North America, and 1% in Latin America and Asia combined.[16] GXO identifies Greenwich, Connecticut, as its corporate headquarters and describes its footprint as more than 1,000 facilities covering over 200 million square feet, with more than 150,000 team members.[20] [16]

Business segments

GXO identifies three geographic operating segments: **Americas and Asia-Pacific**, **United Kingdom and Ireland**, and **Continental Europe**. They conduct similar contract-logistics operations and are combined into one reportable segment; GXO’s latest available 2026 second-quarter filing continues to present one reportable segment.[17]

The reported segment covers contract-logistics services including warehousing and distribution, order fulfillment, e-commerce, and reverse logistics. For 2025, the single reportable segment generated $13.178 billion, or 100% of reported segment revenue; for the first half of 2026, it generated $6.739 billion, also 100%.[23]

GXO does not disclose revenue or percentage contributions separately for the three geographic operating segments, or a revenue split by service line. Therefore, individual segment shares cannot be reliably estimated from its reported disclosures.[17][26] [17]

Company history

GXO’s corporate lineage traces to Express-1 Expedited Solutions, renamed XPO Logistics in 2011 after an investment led by Brad Jacobs. In 2015, XPO’s acquisition of Norbert Dentressangle substantially expanded the predecessor group’s international logistics operations.[27]

XPO announced plans in December 2020 to spin off its logistics segment and introduced GXO as the standalone company’s name in March 2021. The spin-off was completed on August 2, 2021, when GXO became an independent publicly traded company.[30]

After becoming independent, GXO expanded through acquisitions including Clipper Logistics in 2022, PFSweb in 2023, and Wincanton in 2024.[34] Malcolm Wilson’s planned retirement as CEO was announced in 2024; Patrick Kelleher was named successor in June 2025 and took up the role in August 2025.[40][41] [32]
