Company history

Graco traces its origins to April 1926, when brothers Russell and Leil Gray incorporated Gray Company to produce Russell’s air-powered portable lubricator. During World War II, the company developed lubrication equipment for Allied vehicles and aircraft; in 1945 it established an Industrial Equipment Division as it returned to peacetime production.[34]

The company introduced its first airless paint sprayer in 1958 and formed an International Sales Division in 1962. In 1969, Gray Company became publicly traded and adopted the name Graco Inc.[34][37] Graco expanded through acquisitions, including Illinois Tool Works’ finishing businesses in 2012 and Corob, a dispensing-equipment maker, in 2024.[38][39] Mark W. Sheahan became president and CEO in 2021 [40]; later acquisitions included Red Devil Equipment Company in 2025 and Valco Melton in 2026.[41][42] [40]
