Company history

FTI Consulting was founded in 1982 in Annapolis, Maryland, as Forensic Technologies International by Dan Luczak and Joseph Reynolds. It went public on Nasdaq in 1996 and adopted the FTI Consulting name in 1998 as its business expanded beyond its original focus.[20]

A major step in its expansion came in 2002, when FTI acquired PwC’s U.S. Business Recovery Services division, adding significant restructuring expertise. It expanded its investigations presence in Asia with the 2006 acquisition of International Risk Ltd. In 2014, Steven H. Gunby succeeded Jack Dunn as president and chief executive officer.[21]

FTI continued to broaden its advisory capabilities through acquisitions including German restructuring firm Andersch AG in 2019, certain assets of TMT-focused Delta Partners in 2020, and Dutch advisory firm BOLD in 2022.
