Equitable’s retirement products include Structured Capital Strategies (SCS) and EQUI-VEST variable annuities, with investment outcomes linked to indexes, ETFs or commodities; terms and caps vary by product. In 2025, registered index-linked annuities (RILAs) accounted for approximately 69% of Retirement first-year premiums and deposits, calculated from reported RILA sales of $15.366 billion against a $22.361 billion total.[7][8] Its life-insurance product lines include variable universal life, universal life and indexed universal life.[9]

At year-end 2025, assets under management were allocated 41% to equities, 36% to fixed income and 23% to multi-asset solutions, alternatives and other assets.[10][11] Equitable Advisors provides financial-planning advice and access to a range of products and services.[12] [7]

Geographic presence

Equitable Holdings’ insurance subsidiaries are licensed to conduct insurance business in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Bermuda. The filing describes the licensed footprint, but does not establish that the company sells policies or generates revenue in every jurisdiction. Its key insurer domiciles are New York, Arizona and Colorado, and Equitable Bermuda is domiciled in Bermuda. Equitable Advisors distributes across the United States; AllianceBernstein, part of the group, has offices in more than 45 locations worldwide.[13][14]

Equitable Holdings’ principal executive office is at 1345 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York; company materials also identify Charlotte, North Carolina, as an insurance administrative and operations location. The company reported approximately 12,600 employees and financial professionals as of December 31, 2025, but did not provide their geographic distribution. Its 2025 reporting presents revenue by business segment rather than geography, with no country-, state-, or region-level revenue figures or percentages disclosed.[15] [13]

Business segments

Equitable Holdings reports three business segments: Retirement, Asset Management, and Wealth Management; Corporate and Other is reported separately. In FY2025, Retirement generated $6.204 billion in segment revenue, approximately 48.7% of the three segments’ combined revenue. Its focus is retirement savings and income solutions for individual and institutional clients, including individual and group annuities, workplace retirement plans, institutional savings products, and spread lending.[17]

Asset Management generated $4.551 billion, approximately 35.8% of the three-segment total. Through AllianceBernstein’s institutional, retail, and private-wealth channels, it provides global investment management and related services.[19][5] Wealth Management generated $1.978 billion, approximately 15.5%; its offerings span financial advice and solutions for accumulation, retirement, income, and protection, including brokerage, investment-advisory accounts, life insurance, annuities, and financial planning.[2] These approximate shares use the three reportable segments’ combined FY2025 revenue as the denominator and exclude Corporate and Other and eliminations.[5] [17]

Company history

Equitable’s insurance-business roots date to 1859, when Henry Baldwin Hyde founded The Equitable Life Assurance Society. AXA invested in Equitable in 1991, and the insurer demutualized in 1992, becoming a stock company in which AXA held a 49% stake.[24] Separately, the investment-management business now associated with AllianceBernstein traces a major milestone to Alliance Capital’s 2000 acquisition of Sanford C. Bernstein’s business.[27]

AXA Equitable Holdings completed its initial public offering in May 2018. AXA sold down its ownership in 2019 and ceased to control or significantly influence the company; in January 2020, the parent adopted the name Equitable Holdings, Inc., reflecting its independence from AXA.[28][29] In 2021, Equitable completed a reinsurance transaction covering certain legacy variable-annuity policies, and in 2022 AllianceBernstein completed its acquisition of CarVal Investors, expanding its private-markets investment capabilities.[30][31] [28]
