ENEOS Holdings Inc. is a Japan-based holding company for an energy and materials group. Its businesses span petroleum refining and marketing, oil and natural gas exploration and production, high-performance materials, electricity, and renewable energy. Japan is its core market, while the group also has operations overseas.[1][2]

ENEOS Holdings is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Its domestic downstream network includes more than 11,000 service stations, and its refinery locations include Sendai, Kawasaki, Yokohama, Sakai, Mizushima, Marifu and Oita.[1] For the fiscal year ended March 2025, overseas revenue represented 21% of group revenue as reported in its securities report, or 16% on a basis that excludes exports from domestic refineries.[20]

The group also has operations outside Japan. Its oil and gas exploration and production projects span Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, as well as Japan.[21] ENEOS’s overseas group-company directory lists offices in New York, Houston and Abu Dhabi, alongside companies elsewhere in Asia and Oceania, Europe and the Americas.[22] [20]

ENEOS Holdings reports five principal business segments: Petroleum Products, Oil and Natural Gas E&P, High Performance Materials, Electricity, and Renewable Energy. Petroleum Products covers refining and sales of fuels and other petroleum products; Oil and Natural Gas E&P covers upstream exploration and production. High Performance Materials includes elastomers and other functional materials, while Electricity and Renewable Energy are reported separately.[23]

Petroleum Products is the dominant business, with the other segments making smaller contributions. A reliable percentage breakdown of revenue by segment is not available from the cited results, which report segment operating profit rather than segment sales; profit shares would not be a substitute for revenue shares. Company history

ENEOS Holdings traces its oil-business roots to Nippon Oil, founded in 1888. Its metals-business lineage began with the opening of the Hitachi Mine in 1905; Nippon Mining was established in 1929. Nippon Oil merged with Mitsubishi Oil in 1999 to form Nippon Mitsubishi Oil.[27][28]

The holding company was established in 2010 as JX Holdings through the integration of Nippon Oil and Nippon Mining Holdings. It became JXTG Holdings after integrating with TonenGeneral in 2017, then adopted the ENEOS Holdings name in 2020. In 2025, its metals subsidiary JX Advanced Metals was listed, and ENEOS Holdings ceased to be its parent company.[27][29] [27]
