Overview

Element Solutions Inc. is a global specialty-chemicals technology company that develops process materials used in manufacturing, particularly electronics and semiconductor production, as well as industrial surface finishing and offshore energy. Its two core business segments are Electronics and Specialties.[1]

Electronics supplies materials and chemistries for electronic assembly, printed circuit boards and semiconductor manufacturing. Specialties serves industrial metal and plastic finishing, advanced electronic materials and offshore-energy applications. The company operates across more than 30 countries, with approximately 5,200 employees and 62 manufacturing and research and development sites in 18 countries.[2]

For the year ended December 31, 2025, Element Solutions reported net sales of approximately $2.55 billion. The company was incorporated in 2014. Its stated vision and strategy emphasize chemical technology enabling performance and innovation; the reviewed sources did not identify a separately labeled formal mission statement.[5] [1]

Products & services

Element Solutions’ electronics products include solder pastes, adhesives, preforms, fluxes, encapsulants, coatings and thermal-management materials for circuit-board assembly. Its circuit-board chemistry includes metallization for connecting board layers, circuit-formation materials, and surface finishes that support wire bonding, electrical contacts and solderability. Named product lines include Alpha, Kester, Electrolube, Shadow, Blackhole, MacuSpec, Sterling and Entek.[7]

For semiconductor manufacturing and packaging, the company supplies die-attach pastes and adhesives, sintered materials, thermal-interface materials, getters, solder materials and wafer-level plating chemistries, including copper, nickel and precious-metal processes. Argomax sinter technology is used in power-semiconductor and solid-state-lighting applications; ViaForm, MICROFAB and NOVAFAB are among its wafer-processing product lines. Its film and smart-surface products include formable films, texturing lacquers, circuitry and component-attach materials for in-mold electronics.[7]

Industrial products include electroless-nickel coatings for corrosion and wear resistance, plating processes for metals and plastics, chromium-free plastic plating, aqueous and semi-aqueous cleaners, and conversion coatings designed to improve corrosion resistance and paint adhesion. Fernox products filter, inhibit corrosion and condition water in boiler systems; Energy Solutions also supplies water-based fluids used to operate subsea control-system valves and in offshore drilling. The company provides technical support, testing and process-optimization services to customers and equipment manufacturers.[10] [7]

Geographic presence

Element Solutions Inc. has a globally distributed operating footprint. The company reports 62 manufacturing and R&D sites in 18 countries, direct operations in more than 30 countries, and distribution relationships in more than 20 additional countries [4]. Examples of locations identified in company materials include West Haven, Connecticut, in the United States; Panyu/Guangzhou, China; Taiwan; Singapore; and Manaus, Brazil [13]. Its principal executive office is in Miami Beach, Florida [18].

The company describes its facilities as located near customers across major economic regions, but does not report geographic revenue by country or region in the cited annual filing [19]. For 2025, it reported long-lived assets of $108.8 million in the United States, $36.1 million in China, and $174.7 million in other countries; these are asset figures, not sales [20]. The company reports approximately 5,200 employees, but does not provide a geographic breakdown of its workforce [4]. [19]

Business segments

For FY2025, Element Solutions reported two segments. **Electronics** generated $1,786.2 million in net sales, approximately 70% of the company’s total; it provides specialty chemicals and material-process technologies for electronics hardware, including printed circuit boards and advanced semiconductor packaging. Its solutions include assembly materials, circuitry chemistries, and semiconductor solutions.[21]

**Specialties** generated $765.0 million in net sales, approximately 30% of the total. It provides specialty chemicals and process technologies for surface treatment and industrial processes, including metal and plastic treatments and offshore-energy hydraulic control fluids, serving markets such as aerospace, automotive, construction, consumer electronics, and oil and gas.[24] [21]

Company history

Element Solutions’ roots trace to MacDermid, founded in 1922; MacDermid’s early expansion included the integration of Canning, Ytema and Galvaneuvet in 1998–99 and technologies from W.R. Grace, Hercules and Polyfibron in 2002.[25]

In 2013, Platform Acquisition Holdings acquired MacDermid, which became the foundation of the business later known as Platform Specialty Products. From 2014 to 2015, Platform expanded into agricultural chemicals through acquisitions including Agriphar, Chemtura AgroSolutions and Arysta, and grew its electronics and specialty-materials operations with the acquisitions of Alent and businesses from OM Group.[26]

Platform sold Arysta in January 2019 and adopted the name Element Solutions Inc. following the sale. In 2021, it acquired surface-finishing chemicals company Coventya. The company sold its MacDermid Graphics Solutions business in February 2025, then expanded its advanced-materials and electronics portfolios with the acquisitions of EFC Gases & Advanced Materials in January 2026 and Micromax in February 2026.[33] [26]
