Company profile

DuPont de Nemours, Inc.

Updated

Overview

DuPont de Nemours, Inc. is a global materials and technology company that develops products for healthcare, water treatment, construction and industrial markets. Its two business segments are Healthcare & Water Technologies, which includes medical and biopharmaceutical products and water filtration, and Diversified Industrials, which includes building materials and industrial solutions for markets such as aerospace, automotive and packaging. DuPont separated its electronics business into Qnity Electronics in 2025.[1]

DuPont describes its purpose in terms of helping customers advance their technologies and solve practical challenges through science-based innovation. In 2025, it reported approximately $6.8 billion in revenue from continuing operations and approximately 15,000 employees worldwide at year-end. Its subsidiaries spanned about 50 countries, with manufacturing operations in about 20.[4] [1]

Products & services

DuPont’s healthcare products include specialty components for medical devices, TYVEK medical packaging and garments, and TYCHEM protective suits. It also provides medical-product design, prototyping and manufacturing services for biopharmaceutical and medical-device customers. Its water-treatment portfolio includes AMBERLITE ion-exchange resins, FILMTEC reverse-osmosis and nanofiltration elements, and INGE and ITEGRATEC ultrafiltration modules. These products serve industrial wastewater, municipal water, desalination and life-sciences applications.[8][9]

For industrial customers, DuPont supplies Vespel engineered shapes and parts, MOLYKOTE specialty lubricants, BETAFORCE and BETASEAL structural adhesives, and Cyrel flexographic printing plates. Its construction products include TYVEK house wrap, STYROFOAM insulation and CORIAN solid surfaces, used in building envelopes and interiors. The company also offers customer technical and testing support.[10]

In 2025, Healthcare & Water Technologies accounted for approximately 47% of DuPont’s continuing-operations segment sales, while Diversified Industrials accounted for approximately 53%; these are segment shares, not sales percentages for individual products.[7] [8]

Geographic presence

DuPont de Nemours is headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, and has operations across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.[13][14] In 2025, it reported $6.85 billion in net trade revenue, attributed by customer location: $3.19 billion from the United States (46.5%), $227 million from Canada (3.3%), $1.47 billion from Europe, the Middle East and Africa (21.4%), $1.64 billion from Asia Pacific (23.9%) and $326 million from Latin America (4.8%).[15][16] China and Hong Kong accounted for $708 million of that revenue.[17]

At year-end 2025, DuPont reported 48 manufacturing-site entries in the United States and Canada, 15 in Asia Pacific, 15 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and four in Latin America. The reported total of 82 is not necessarily a count of distinct facilities because sites serving multiple segments may be counted more than once.[18][19] [13]

Business segments

Following the separation of its electronics business, DuPont reports two segments: Healthcare & Water Technologies and Diversified Industrials. Its prior Electronics & Industrial and Water & Protection segment names are therefore not directly comparable with the current breakdown.[20]

Healthcare & Water Technologies generated $3.233 billion, or approximately 47% of 2025 net sales. It comprises healthcare technologies—including medical packaging, device components and protective garments—and water filtration and purification technologies serving industrial, municipal and specialty applications.[7]

Diversified Industrials generated $3.616 billion, or approximately 53% of 2025 net sales. Its building technologies serve new construction and repair and remodeling, while its industrial technologies include adhesive, wear-and-friction, and packaging solutions for markets including aerospace, automotive and printing.[7] [20]

Company history

DuPont traces its origins to 1802, when Éleuthère Irénée du Pont established a gunpowder business on the Brandywine Creek in Delaware. Over the twentieth century, the company became known for materials research: DuPont scientists first synthesized nylon in 1935 and discovered the material later marketed as Teflon in 1938. Kevlar followed in the 1960s, and Tyvek was introduced in 1967.[22]

DuPont spun off its performance-chemicals business as Chemours in 2015. In 2017, it merged with Dow to form DowDuPont; that company separated in 2019 into three independent businesses: Dow, Corteva and DuPont, with DuPont retaining the specialty-products businesses. DuPont subsequently combined its Nutrition & Biosciences business with International Flavors & Fragrances in 2021, sold the majority of its Mobility & Materials business to Celanese in 2022, and separated its electronics business as Qnity Electronics in 2025.[27] [22]
