Company history

DT Midstream’s corporate roots were in DTE Energy’s midstream business, then known as DTE Gas Enterprises. In 2019, the business acquired interests in the M5 Louisiana Gathering system, including the Blue Union and LEAP assets. DTE announced plans to separate the midstream business in October 2020; DTE Gas Enterprises converted into DT Midstream, Inc. in January 2021, and the spin-off was completed on July 1, 2021, when DT Midstream became an independent public company listed on the NYSE.[18]

The company expanded its gathering and transmission infrastructure in the early 2020s, including an Appalachia Gathering System expansion placed in service in 2022 and the conversion of the Michigan Gathering System to dry-gas transmission service in early 2023. In December 2024, it completed a $1.2 billion acquisition of the Guardian, Midwestern and Viking pipelines from ONEOK. LEAP Phase 4 entered service in September 2025, and the Stonewall–Mountain Valley Pipeline interconnect entered service in February 2026. In January 2026, David Slater became executive chairman while continuing as CEO, and Christopher Zona became president while remaining COO.[22] [18]
