Company history
Deckers Outdoor traces its origins to 1973 in Santa Barbara, California, when its founder began making striped flip-flops. The company was incorporated in 1975 and became publicly traded in 1993. Its 1995 acquisition of UGG marked a significant step in its development from a footwear business into a multi-brand company.[27][28]
Deckers expanded its brand portfolio by acquiring Teva’s worldwide assets in 2002 and Sanuk in 2011. In 2013, it completed the acquisition of running-footwear brand HOKA, following an initial investment in 2012. Dave Powers succeeded Angel Martinez as chief executive officer in 2016.[29][30][31][32] [27][28][29][30][31][32]
