Datadog, Inc.

Updated

Overview

Datadog, Inc. is a software company whose cloud-based platform helps organizations observe, secure and manage their applications and technology infrastructure. Its products include infrastructure monitoring, application performance monitoring, log management, digital experience monitoring and cloud security. Customers can use these products separately or together to gain a unified view of their systems.[1]

Founded in 2010, Datadog describes its original purpose as breaking down silos between development and operations teams so they can collaborate using shared information. The company is headquartered in New York City and has other offices globally. It served approximately 32,700 customers across more than 160 countries at the end of 2025 and reported $3.43 billion in revenue for that year.[4] [1]

Products & services

Datadog offers subscription-based observability and security software whose products can be used individually or together on a shared platform. Infrastructure Monitoring tracks performance and availability across cloud, hybrid, container and serverless environments; Application Performance Monitoring (APM) uses code-level distributed tracing to diagnose application performance across services; and Log Management ingests, indexes, queries and alerts on logs. Its Logging Without Limits and Flex Logs capabilities let customers manage log processing, retention and querying separately.[3]

For application experience and development, Synthetics tests applications and API endpoints with simulated requests, while Real User Monitoring analyzes web and mobile performance experienced by actual users. CI Visibility helps identify slow or failing pipelines, builds and tests, and LLM Observability traces AI application inputs, outputs, errors, token usage and latency.[10] Incident Response brings monitoring, paging and incident management into one workflow; Workflow Automation and App Builder support automated processes and custom applications; and Cloud Cost Management helps analyze cloud spending alongside operational data.[14]

Datadog’s security products include Cloud Security, which scans infrastructure for vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, identity risks and compliance issues, and Code Security, which helps prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities in developed and third-party code. The portfolio also includes Cloud SIEM, Threat Management and Sensitive Data Scanner.[17] Datadog reports one operating segment and does not disclose the percentage of revenue attributable to individual products.[22] [3]

Geographic presence

Datadog’s principal executive offices are in New York City. Its international sales presence includes Amsterdam, Dublin, London, Paris, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo. As of December 31, 2025, it had approximately 8,100 employees across 35 countries; about 44% of its full-time employees were outside the United States, and 34% of that group were in France.[23]

In 2025, Datadog reported $2.43 billion of revenue from North America and $994 million from international markets—approximately 71% and 29% of total revenue, respectively. It assigns revenue geographically by customer billing address. The reported split is North America versus international, rather than United States versus other countries.[26][27] [23]

Business segments

Datadog reports one operating and reportable segment: an observability and security platform for cloud applications. It does not report separate segments for its individual products.[22]

Within that segment, its offerings cover infrastructure and application performance monitoring, log management, user-experience and security monitoring, service management, and developer-focused monitoring. Datadog does not disclose revenue percentages for these product areas.[29][22] The disclosed geographic split is distinct from its segment reporting: in 2025, approximately 29% of revenue came from outside North America, implying approximately 71% from North America.[30] [22]

Company history

Datadog was founded in June 2010 by Olivier Pomel and Alexis Lê-Quôc, with the aim of bringing data from development and operations systems together. It launched infrastructure monitoring in 2012, followed by application performance monitoring in 2017 and log management in 2018.[31]

In 2019, Datadog expanded into user experience and network performance monitoring and announced the addition of security monitoring. It completed its initial public offering in September of that year. The company subsequently extended its security products, announcing Cloud SIEM in 2020 and an agreement to acquire application-security company Sqreen in 2021.[33] [31]
