CORCEPT THERAPEUTICS INC

Updated

Overview

Corcept Therapeutics Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing medicines that modulate cortisol for serious diseases. Founded in 1998, the company’s work spans endocrine and metabolic disorders, cancer and neurologic conditions. Its commercial business has centered on Korlym and its authorized generic for hypercortisolism; in 2026, the FDA approved Lifyorli (relacorilant) with nab-paclitaxel for certain patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer.[1]

Corcept describes its mission as unlocking the potential of cortisol modulation to transform the treatment of serious diseases. It is headquartered in Redwood City, California, and its commercial operations include the United States; the company reports a workforce of more than 750 employees.[5][6] Its reported revenue was $761.4 million in 2025, reflecting the scale of its commercial business.[7] [1]

Products & services

Corcept’s marketed products include Korlym (mifepristone), a once-daily 300 mg tablet approved to treat hyperglycemia secondary to hypercortisolism in adults with endogenous Cushing’s syndrome who have type 2 diabetes or glucose intolerance and are not candidates for surgery or have not responded to surgery. The company also markets an authorized generic of Korlym; the two are reported together as “Hypercortisolism Products.” Lifyorli (relacorilant), approved with nab-paclitaxel, is indicated for certain adults with platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer after one to three prior systemic regimens, including at least one with bevacizumab.[8][4]

Relacorilant is also being developed for hypercortisolism and additional cancers. Corcept describes it as a selective cortisol modulator with glucocorticoid-receptor affinity and no progesterone-receptor affinity; its hypercortisolism use remains investigational, with the NDA resubmitted in June 2026 after an FDA complete response letter requested additional efficacy evidence. Oncology studies include combinations for ovarian, endometrial, pancreatic, and cervical cancers. Other investigational selective cortisol modulators include miricorilant, studied for MASH in Phase 2b trials using twice-weekly dosing, and dazucorilant, studied at daily doses of 150 mg and 300 mg for ALS; its Phase 2 trial did not meet its primary endpoint.[9]

Corcept provides physician and patient education and screening programs related to hypercortisolism. Its commercial support includes sales representatives, field-based medical science liaisons, specialty-pharmacy dispensing, and logistical support for Lifyorli patients and physicians. In Q2 2026, reported net product revenue was $256.1 million: Hypercortisolism Products contributed $208.6 million (approximately 81.4%) and Lifyorli $47.6 million (approximately 18.6%).[17] [8]

Geographic presence

Corcept’s reported commercial sales are in the United States. Its 2026 filing does not provide revenue by country or region, and reports a single operating segment rather than geographic segments.[18][20]

The company is headquartered in Redwood City, California, at 101 Redwood Shores Parkway; it expanded its premises at that address in the first quarter of 2026.[21] Its clinical-trial footprint has included sites in the United States, Europe, South Korea, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, and Australia; this trial activity does not establish commercial sales in those locations.[24] [18]

Business segments

Corcept Therapeutics reports one operating and reportable segment: the discovery, development and commercialization of pharmaceutical products. The company does not disclose separate segment revenue or segment-level percentage contributions; on its reported segment basis, the single segment represents 100% of the business.[25]

The company also presents a product-family view, which is not a reportable-segment breakdown. Hypercortisolism Products generated approximately 81% of total product revenue in Q2 2026 and 89% in the first half of 2026, based on disclosed family revenue and consolidated product revenue.[26][27] [25]

Company history

Corcept Therapeutics was incorporated on May 13, 1998, growing out of research by Joseph K. Belanoff and Alan F. Schatzberg into the role of cortisol in illness. Belanoff became CEO in 1999.[28]

A major milestone came in February 2012, when the FDA approved Korlym (mifepristone) to control hyperglycemia in certain adults with endogenous Cushing syndrome; Corcept launched the medicine nationally that spring.[31][32] In 2020, the company began Phase 3 testing of relacorilant for Cushing syndrome, expanding its development beyond Korlym.[33]

Corcept submitted relacorilant for Cushing syndrome in late 2024; after the FDA requested additional evidence in December 2025, the company resubmitted the application in June 2026.[34][35] Separately, the FDA approved relacorilant with nab-paclitaxel for platinum-resistant ovarian cancer on March 25, 2026, marking Corcept’s entry into an oncology indication.[36] [34]
