Products & services

Columbia Sportswear’s products are organized into apparel, accessories and equipment, and footwear across its Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, prAna, and SOREL brands. Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, and prAna offer apparel, accessories, and equipment; Columbia and SOREL offer footwear.[5][6]

For the six months ended June 30, 2026, apparel, accessories and equipment generated $1,120.461 million of net sales and footwear generated $272.914 million, approximately 80.4% and 19.6% of the combined category total, respectively.[14] Most products carry limited warranties for defects in quality and workmanship.[15] [5]

Geographic presence

In FY2025, Columbia Sportswear reported net sales across four geographic segments: United States, $1,979.0 million (58.3% of total); Latin America and Asia Pacific (LAAP), $611.1 million (18.0%); EMEA, $576.9 million (17.0%); and Canada, $230.2 million (6.8%). The company sells through wholesale and direct-to-consumer channels. Its LAAP segment includes wholly owned subsidiaries in Japan, Korea and China, with distributors in other markets. Its retail footprint includes more than 170 U.S. stores, more than 305 LAAP stores, and more than 70 Europe-direct stores across 10 countries.[17]

Disclosed facilities and offices include the corporate headquarters and a distribution center in Portland, Oregon; a distribution center in Robards, Kentucky; Canadian operations and distribution in London, Ontario; Europe headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, administration in Strasbourg, France, and distribution in Cambrai, France; regional headquarters in Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul; and offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Bangalore. Business segments

Columbia Sportswear reports four geographic segments: U.S., LAAP (Latin America and Asia Pacific), EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), and Canada. Its reported segment breakdown is geographic; its brands are presented separately rather than as reportable operating segments.[23][5]

By net sales, FY2025 segment mix was approximately U.S. 58.3% ($1,979.0 million), LAAP 18.0% ($611.1 million), EMEA 17.0% ($576.9 million), and Canada 6.8% ($230.2 million). For the six months ended June 30, 2026, the mix was U.S. 53.3% ($742.5 million), LAAP 20.5% ($286.2 million), EMEA 20.7% ($288.5 million), and Canada 5.5% ($76.2 million). Percentages are calculated from reported segment net sales and may not sum to 100% due to rounding.[24][25] [23]

Company history

Columbia’s roots date to 1938, when Paul Lamfrom founded the Columbia Hat Company in Portland, Oregon, as a hat distributor; the business was incorporated in Oregon in 1961. After Neal Boyle’s death in 1970, his wife Gert took charge of the family business, and their son Tim joined in 1971. Tim became CEO in 1988.[26]

The company expanded from hats into outdoor apparel, introducing its Interchange jacket system in 1984 and the Bugaboo line in 1986. Columbia went public in 1998, then broadened its portfolio through acquisitions: SOREL in 2000, Mountain Hardwear in 2003, Montrail in 2006, and prAna in 2014.[29]

In November 2025, Columbia named Peter J. Bragdon and Joseph P. Boyle co-presidents as part of its succession planning; Tim Boyle remained chairman and CEO.[35] [26]
