Products & services

Cognizant offers consulting, application development, systems integration, quality engineering and assurance, and software solutions. Its outsourcing services cover application maintenance, infrastructure and security, and business processes. The company also develops, licenses, implements and supports proprietary and third-party software and platforms. Its delivery practices include software and platform engineering, enterprise platforms, automation and security.[8]

Named offerings include the Neuro AI Multi-Agent Accelerator and Multi-Agent Service Suite, which are designed to help develop and deploy AI agents for operational workflows, real-time decision-making and personalized customer interactions. Cognizant also identifies Neuro IT Operations and Skygrade as platforms used to support IT observability, reliability and agility.[11][12] In 2025, consulting and technology services generated $13.53 billion, approximately 64% of revenue, while outsourcing generated $7.58 billion, approximately 36%; Cognizant does not disclose revenue for these individual products.[13] [8]

Geographic presence

Cognizant’s sales are concentrated in North America. In 2025, North America generated $15.78 billion, or about 75% of revenue; the United Kingdom generated $1.92 billion, continental Europe $2.09 billion, and the rest of the world $1.32 billion. These regions accounted for approximately 9%, 10%, and 6% of revenue, respectively.[14]

Cognizant operates in nearly 50 countries, but its delivery footprint is concentrated in India, which accounts for approximately 90% of its delivery-center space. Its largest Indian delivery-center locations include Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata and Bangalore; it also has delivery centers in the United States, the Philippines, Canada, Europe and Latin America. Its worldwide headquarters is in Teaneck, New Jersey.[4] At year-end 2025, approximately 256,900 of its 351,600 employees were in India, compared with 41,600 in North America, 14,600 in continental Europe, 7,800 in the United Kingdom and 30,700 elsewhere.[7] [14]

Business segments

Cognizant reports four industry-based segments. Health Sciences serves healthcare providers and payers, as well as pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical-device companies; its work includes care operations, claims and revenue-cycle management. It contributed approximately 30% of 2025 revenue.[15][6] Financial Services serves banking, capital-markets, payments and insurance clients, with work spanning technology modernization, cloud and data, risk and fraud, lending and payments. It contributed approximately 29%.[16][6]

Products & Resources serves industries including manufacturing, retail, travel, logistics, energy and utilities, with a focus on operational efficiency, customer experience and technologies such as AI and IoT. It contributed approximately 25% of revenue.[17][6] Communications, Media & Technology serves telecommunications, media, technology and related businesses, with work including data modernization, customer experience and infrastructure modernization. It contributed approximately 16%.[18][6] Cognizant also discloses revenue by client location, but geography is not a separate reportable-segment structure.[19][8] [15]

Company history

Cognizant began in 1994 as an in-house technology development center for Dun & Bradstreet and its operating units. It was spun off from Dun & Bradstreet in 1996 and completed its initial public offering in 1998. Its remaining ownership link to IMS Health ended in 2003, when IMS Health distributed its Cognizant shares to IMS shareholders.[20][21]

Francisco D’Souza became chief executive officer in 2007. Cognizant expanded its healthcare technology business through the acquisition of TriZetto in 2014. Brian Humphries succeeded D’Souza as CEO in 2019, and Ravi Kumar Singisetti became CEO in 2023. The company acquired engineering services firm Belcan in 2024.[22] [20]
