Products & services
China Life Insurance offers life, health and accident insurance. Life products include endowment and annuity policies, commercial annuities and private-pension offerings. Its health portfolio includes critical-illness, disease-specific and lifelong long-term-care products; it has also introduced critical-illness coverage with simplified underwriting and products focused on gender-specific or brain diseases. In 2024, life insurance accounted for approximately 80% of gross written premiums, health insurance 18% and accident insurance 2%.[7][8][9]
Among its largest products by 2024 gross written premiums were Xin Yao Long Teng, Xin Xiang Wei Lai and Xin Yu Jin Sheng endowment insurance, each contributing about 5–6% of the company total; Xin Fu Lin Men annuity insurance contributed about 5%. Its Critical Illness Group Health Insurance for Rural and Urban Citizens (type A) contributed about 5%.[10][9]
China Life also pairs some medical insurance products with health-management services. These include AI-assisted health-report interpretation, medical-care access and services offered through city-customised commercial health insurance programs. China Life Insurance Company Limited is headquartered at 16 Financial Street in Beijing. Its business outlets and service counters cover urban and rural areas across mainland China, making the mainland its principal disclosed operating geography.[12][13]
The company also maintains an office in Hung Hom, Hong Kong, and its subsidiaries include Hong Kong-based asset-management and investment entities. These disclosures establish a Hong Kong office and investment presence, but do not identify it as a Hong Kong insurance-sales branch.[14][15] [12][13][14][15]
Business segments
China Life Insurance reports three operating segments: **Life**, which primarily sells life insurance policies; **Health & Accident**, which sells health and accident insurance policies; and **Others**, which primarily includes agency business involving its parent, subsidiary activities and consolidation adjustments. In 2025, Life accounted for approximately **82%** of reported segment revenues, Health & Accident **15%**, and Others **3%**. Measured by insurance revenue alone, the split was approximately **67% Life** and **33% Health & Accident**; Others recorded no insurance revenue. Company history
China Life Insurance Company Limited traces its institutional roots to an insurance predecessor established in 1949. A later predecessor, PICC (Life) Co., Ltd., was incorporated in 1996 and renamed China Life Insurance Company in 1999. Following a restructuring, the present company was established in Beijing on 30 June 2003 as a joint-stock life insurer.[20][21][22]
China Life listed overseas in December 2003, on the Hong Kong and New York stock exchanges, and entered the domestic A-share market in January 2007 through a Shanghai listing. Its American depositary shares were delisted from the New York Stock Exchange in September 2022.[22][23][24] [20][21][22][23][24]
