Overview

Caris Life Sciences, Inc. is a precision-oncology diagnostics and precision-medicine company founded in 2008 and headquartered in Irving, Texas. It combines molecular profiling, next-generation sequencing, artificial intelligence, and clinical data to help inform cancer detection, treatment selection, monitoring, and research. Its portfolio includes tissue-based MI Profile, blood-based Caris Assure, and additional genomic and AI-enabled tests. The company describes its founding vision as combining consistently generated molecular information with data-driven insights to advance precision medicine for patients.[1][2]

Caris has locations in the United States, Switzerland, and Japan, including Phoenix, New York, Cambridge, Basel, and Tokyo. It reported revenue of $812.0 million for 2025 and $479.9 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026. Its investor FAQ reported approximately 1,750 employees as of December 31, 2024.[3] [1]

Products & services

Caris’s principal tissue-based offering is MI Profile, which includes MI Cancer Seek, a next-generation sequencing assay using whole-exome sequencing (WES) and whole-transcriptome sequencing (WTS). The filing describes FDA-approved companion-diagnostic use across one pan-cancer and five tumor-specific indications, for adults and pediatric patients aged 1–22. Combined with immunohistochemistry and AI/ML analysis, the platform identifies tumor origin across 90 cancer types at approximately 95% accuracy. MI Profile accounted for 84.4% of total revenue in FY2025.[2]

Caris Assure is a blood-based WES/WTS profiling test covering more than 23,000 genes. It sequences plasma and white blood cells (buffy coat) to help distinguish tumor variants from inherited variants and age-related clonal-hematopoiesis variants that could affect therapy selection. Caris also launched Caris Detect in Q2 2026, a blood-based multi-cancer early-detection test that uses ultra-deep whole-genome sequencing, WTS and AI to analyze cancer-associated signals. Caris ChromoSeq, also launched commercially in Q2 2026 and granted MolDX approval, combines WGS and WTS to assess myeloid malignancies including AML, MDS and MPN from a bone-marrow aspirate or peripheral-blood sample.[10]

Caris MI Clarity is a digital AI/ML prognostic solution that analyzes digitized H&E whole-slide images and clinical inputs, without additional genomic sequencing, to assess early- and late-distant recurrence risk for postmenopausal patients with HR-positive/HER2-negative, node-negative early-stage breast cancer. Across eligible samples, Caris’s technical platform can apply WES to all 23,000 encoding DNA genes, WTS to 61,000 protein-encoding RNA transcripts, or WGS; it combines sequencing with AI/ML and high-performance computing. The company also provides pharmaceutical research and development services, including molecular-data licensing and collaborations.[2]

In Q2 2026, molecular-profiling services represented 96% of total revenue and pharmaceutical R&D services 4%; these are service-category shares, not individual product shares.[16] [2]

Geographic presence

Caris Life Sciences’ revenue is generated substantially in the United States; the company has not disclosed a geographic revenue breakdown or percentages. Its headquarters are in Irving, Texas, with offices also identified in Phoenix, Arizona; New York, New York; Cambridge, Massachusetts; Basel, Switzerland; and Tokyo, Japan.[17][3] [17][3]

Business segments

Caris Life Sciences reports one operating segment, managed on a consolidated basis; its revenue categories are not separate reportable segments.[18][19]

The company classifies revenue as molecular profiling services and pharma research and development services. Molecular profiling includes oncology profiling products such as MI Profile, Caris Assure and the Precision Whole Genome Platform; tissue-based MI Profile solutions have generated most of this category’s revenue. Pharma R&D services support biopharma partners’ research and drug development, including molecular profiling, research and strategic-data services.[20]

For FY2025, molecular profiling services contributed approximately 94% of revenue ($766.7 million), and pharma R&D services approximately 6% ($45.3 million). In the first half of 2026, the respective shares were approximately 96% ($463.1 million) and 4% ($16.8 million).[22][23] [18]

Company history

Caris Life Sciences was founded in 2008 by David D. Halbert and entered precision oncology through its acquisition of Molecular Profiling Institute. In 2011, the company incorporated as Caris Life Sciences, Ltd. In 2013, it added next-generation sequencing to its MI Profile tumor-profiling service and announced further enhancements to the service.[24]

In 2016, Caris reported that more than 100,000 clinical cases had used its Caris Molecular Intelligence profiling service. It acquired cancer-trial recruitment service Pharmatech in 2019, and in 2020 changed its name to Caris Life Sciences, Inc. and re-domiciled to Texas.[28]

Caris introduced its Caris Assure liquid-biopsy assay in 2022. The FDA approved MI Cancer Seek as a companion diagnostic in 2024, and Caris broadly launched it in 2025. The company priced its initial public offering in June 2025.[30] [24]
