Company profile

BILL Holdings, Inc.

Updated

Overview

BILL Holdings, Inc. provides an AI-enabled financial operations platform primarily for small and midsize businesses and accounting firms. Its cloud-based services support accounts payable and receivable, expense management, payments, forecasting and procurement.[1] The company’s mission is “to make it simple to connect and do business.” [2]

Headquartered in San Jose, California, BILL also identifies an office in Draper, Utah. Its international payments product reaches more than 130 countries, indicating cross-border payment capability rather than a comparable office footprint.[3] In fiscal 2026, the company reported revenue of approximately $1.65 billion and described its network as including nearly half a million businesses and accountants and more than 9 million network members.[4] Its founder and CEO profile describes a workforce of over 2,500 employees.[5] [1]

Products & services

BILL’s integrated financial operations platform combines accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), spend management, forecasting, procurement and payment capabilities. Its AP tools automate bill receipt, approval, payment and synchronization with accounting systems. Features include AI bill capture that pre-populates invoice details, invoice coding for multi-line bills, configurable approval workflows, suggested payment dates, document search and storage, and collaboration and audit trails.[1]

AR tools automate invoice creation, delivery and collection, track invoice status, and provide a customizable branded client portal for ACH or card payments and invoice history. BILL Spend and Expense combines budgeting and spend-management software with employee charge cards, configurable controls and permissions, team or project budgets, mobile requests and approvals, reimbursements, and transaction receipt and categorization tools. BILL’s FY2026 launches and extensions included BILL AI agents for tasks such as W-9 filings, reconciliations and invoice coding; BILL Travel for booking and expense tracking; expanded digital payment options through Supplier Payments Plus; and Embed 2.0 integrations with Paychex, Oracle NetSuite and Acumatica.[13]

Payment capabilities include ACH, card and virtual-card payments, real-time payments, checks with check-fraud controls, international transfers to more than 130 countries, and Pay By Card, through which a customer pays by card while BILL pays the vendor using an accepted method.[22] In FY2026, core revenue was approximately $1.505 billion: BILL AP/AR accounted for about 49.2%, BILL Spend & Expense 44.9%, and Embedded Solutions & Other 5.9%. These percentages are calculated from the reported quarterly solution revenue figures; Embedded Solutions & Other includes financial-institution-channel revenue, Invoice2go and other solutions.[28] [1]

Geographic presence

In its FY2026 reporting, BILL stated that its payment and card products are available to customers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Its Invoice2go subsidiary has subscribers in many countries, including Australia and several European Union countries; the company does not provide a complete list of those countries.[31]

BILL does not disclose revenue by country or region. It reports one operating segment and reviews results on a consolidated basis, so geographic revenue percentages are not available from its segment reporting.[32]

At June 30, 2026, BILL had 1,683 employees. It identifies offices in San Jose, California, and Draper, Utah, and says other employees work remotely; it does not report employee distribution by country. San Jose is its headquarters.[33][1] [31]

Business segments

BILL Holdings, Inc. reports one operating segment, rather than multiple segments. Its chief operating decision maker reviews results on a consolidated basis and uses consolidated net income (loss) to assess performance and allocate resources; the company does not disclose separate segment names, focus areas, or segment-level revenue contributions.[32][34]

For context, BILL’s FY2026 revenue mix is disclosed by revenue line, not by segment: subscription and transaction fees were $1.505 billion (about 91% of total revenue), and interest on funds held for customers was $148.4 million (about 9%), out of $1.653 billion total revenue. These revenue lines should not be interpreted as operating segments.[35] [32]

Company history

BILL was founded in April 2006 by René Lacerte as CashView, and was renamed Bill.com in 2008.[36]

In 2018, the company introduced international business payments. In 2019, it launched an AI-enabled payments platform and went public on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BILL.[39]

In 2021, Bill.com acquired Divvy, expanding into spend and expense management, and Invoice2go, adding invoicing and accounts-receivable tools.[42] It completed its acquisition of financial-planning software company Finmark in 2022, introduced the BILL brand that year, and changed its legal name to BILL Holdings, Inc. in 2023.[45] In September 2023, it announced a platform combining accounts payable, accounts receivable, and spend-and-expense management.[47] [36]
