Bath & Body Works, Inc.

Updated

Overview

Bath & Body Works, Inc. is a global personal-care and home-fragrance company, selling primarily through its stores and e-commerce in the United States and Canada, and through franchise, license and wholesale partners internationally. Its core products include body care and fragrance, hand soaps and sanitizers, and home-fragrance products such as candles.[1]

The company describes its belief as “everybody deserves to feel good,” and states its purpose is to help the world live more fully through fragrance.[1][4] For fiscal 2025, it reported net sales of $7.291 billion and employed more than 60,700 associates as of January 31, 2026.[5][6] Its footprint included 1,927 company-operated stores in the U.S. and Canada, plus 573 international stores and e-commerce sites in more than 45 other countries.[3] [1]

Products & services

Bath & Body Works sells body-care and fragrance products including fine fragrance mists, body creams and lotions, eau de parfum, and body wash or shower gel. Its hand-care range includes hand soaps and sanitizers; soap formats include foaming, gel, and moisturizing soaps, as well as refills.[3][7] An example is Gingham Body Wash & Shower Gel, scented with blue freesia, white peach, and fresh clementine.[8]

Home-fragrance products include 3-wick candles, Wallflowers plug-in fragrance and refills, and room sprays. Example candle fragrances include Gingham, with blue freesia, white peach, and fresh clementine notes, and Flannel, with fresh bergamot, heirloom mahogany, and soft musk.[3] Wallflowers refills are advertised to provide up to 30 days of fragrance, while hand-soap refills are listed as providing 600 or more pumps.[12][13]

Products are sold through the company’s stores and online channels, including its e-commerce sites and Amazon.[3] The latest annual report reviewed does not disclose product-category revenue shares or category-specific performance percentages.[14] [3]

Geographic presence

Bath & Body Works is headquartered at Three Limited Parkway, Columbus, Ohio. As of January 31, 2026, it operated 1,814 stores in the United States and 113 in Canada. Partners operated 536 international stores and 37 international travel-retail stores.[15]

The company sells through partner-operated locations and e-commerce sites in more than 45 countries, using franchise, license and wholesale arrangements; it reported 34 partner-operated international e-commerce sites as of January 31, 2026. The filing does not enumerate the countries.[18][19]

For the six months ended August 1, 2026, sales were $2.194 billion from U.S. and Canadian stores, $521 million from U.S. and Canadian direct channels, and $177 million from “International and Other,” out of $2.892 billion total sales. “International and Other” represented approximately 6.1% of sales, but is not a pure international-geography figure because it also includes domestic wholesale activity.[20][21] [15]

Business segments

For fiscal 2025, the 52-week period ended January 31, 2026, Bath & Body Works, Inc. reported **one operating and reportable segment**, rather than multiple product or geographic segments. That segment encompasses the company’s personal-care and home-fragrance business, including products such as body care, hand soap and sanitizer, and candles, sold through its retail and digital operations and international arrangements. The segment generated $7.291 billion in net sales, or approximately **100%** of consolidated net sales.[22]

The company also discloses sales using a **channel/geography breakdown**, which is not a separate reportable-segment structure. In fiscal 2025, U.S. and Canada stores contributed $5.582 billion (approximately **76.6%** of sales), U.S. and Canada direct sales $1.395 billion (**19.1%**), and international sales $314 million (**4.3%**).[25] [22]

Company history

Bath & Body Works opened its first store in the Boston area on September 13, 1990, under founder Leslie Wexner. In 1998, it expanded into home fragrance with the first White Barn candle store; in 2010, it opened its first international store in Dubai.[4]

On August 2, 2021, L Brands completed the spin-off of Victoria’s Secret, and the remaining company became Bath & Body Works, Inc., an independent public company.[26][27] [26]
