Updated

Overview

Banco Bradesco is a Brazilian financial-services group founded in 1943. Its core banking business provides deposits, lending and payment cards, while the wider group also offers asset management, insurance, pension plans and capitalization bonds. Bradesco describes its mission as democratizing access to banking products and services, with an emphasis on financial inclusion.[1]

The group operates primarily in Brazil, with international branches in New York, Grand Cayman and London. At the end of 2025, it had 82,095 employees and approximately R$2.33 trillion in total assets.[6] [1]

Products & services

Banco Bradesco offers checking and savings accounts, time deposits and credit products for individuals and businesses. Conta Fácil combines checking and savings under one account number and card, while Click Conta serves customers aged 0–17 with a debit card and an automatic allowance feature.[9][10] Lending products include personal and payroll-deductible loans, vehicle finance and mortgages; residential property financing can run for up to 35 years.[11] Its cards include American Express, Elo, Mastercard and Visa products, alongside private-label cards.[14][15]

For businesses, Bradesco provides working-capital loans, agribusiness credit and import and export finance. Export financing can advance reais against expected foreign-currency proceeds, while agribusiness loans can fund machinery, infrastructure and other investments.[16] Bradesco Net Empresa supports payments, transfers, check deposits and receivables services, as well as online contracting for Cielo payment machines, payment links and e-commerce acceptance.[20] Consumer digital channels support Pix, bill payments, loans and foreign exchange; the BIA assistant also handles tasks such as statements, card activation and fraud alerts.[21][22]

Beyond banking, Bradesco offers life, health, motor and property insurance; individual and group pension plans, including VGBL and PGBL; and capitalization bonds that combine saving with prize draws.[23] Bradesco Asset offers fixed-income, equity, balanced and alternative investment funds, while consortia provide pooled-fund arrangements for acquiring property and vehicles.[28][29] [9]

Geographic presence

Banco Bradesco’s operations are concentrated in Brazil, and its head office is in Osasco, São Paulo. At the end of 2024, it reported 2,305 branches within a network of 82,914 customer service points; the broader figure includes channels such as correspondent banks and financing outlets, not just branches.[30]

Outside Brazil, Bradesco reports banking branches and other units in locations including New York, Grand Cayman, London, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Mexico and Miami. It reported 13 overseas branches, subsidiaries and representative offices at the end of 2024. Its reported operating segments are organized by business activity rather than geography, and no country- or region-level revenue breakdown is provided.[30] [30]

Business segments

Banco Bradesco reports two principal operating segments: Banking and Insurance, pension plans and capitalization bonds. Banking covers retail, middle-market and corporate banking, as well as leasing, international banking, investment banking and private banking. The insurance segment comprises insurance, supplemental pension plans and capitalization bonds, conducted through Bradesco Seguros and its subsidiaries.[35]

On Bradesco’s 2025 managerial reporting basis, Banking generated approximately 59% of the combined net income reported for Banking, Insurance and the small Other Activities category; Insurance generated approximately 41%, and Other Activities less than 1%. These are shares of reported managerial segment net income, not consolidated IFRS net income.[36] [35]

Company history

Banco Bradesco was founded in 1943 as Banco Brasileiro de Descontos S.A. It began expanding in 1948, became Brazil’s largest privately controlled commercial bank by the late 1960s, and extended its presence nationwide during the 1970s.[1]

In 1988, it combined its real-estate-financing, investment-banking and consumer-credit subsidiaries into a multiple-service bank and adopted the name Banco Bradesco S.A. A later major expansion came in October 2016, when it acquired HSBC Bank Brasil.[1][37] [1][37]
