Products & services
Arcadis provides professional services rather than a manufactured-product range. Its service offerings include advisory, architecture and urbanism, asset management, design and engineering, environmental services, and program and project management; work spans the lifecycle of natural and built assets.[8][1] Its program-management services include project and construction management, while its broader work includes energy-transition planning and grid-related services.[9][10][11]
Named digital offerings include Enterprise Decision Analytics (EDA), which applies data and digital tools to client decisions, and Climate Risk Nexus, which helps clients anticipate and manage climate risks.[12] For U.S. water utilities, Arcadis describes AI-for-Water advisory on data strategies and roadmaps; its EDA work with Voda.ai supports lead-service-line replacement, is reported as live at 22 utilities, and is associated with a stated potential 50–60% reduction in excavation costs.[13][14] Arcadis also identifies digital-twin solutions for data centers.[15] Other concrete capabilities include water management and AI-related water innovation; coastal resilience; PFAS and emerging-contaminant work; energy transmission and distribution; nuclear and critical-mineral capabilities; and design for life-sciences, semiconductor, data-center, and intelligent-transportation infrastructure.[16] Environmental project work includes investigating PFAS and designing contaminated-water or soil treatment approaches.[17][18]
Arcadis reports revenue by Global Business Area rather than by individual service offering. In FY2025, Resilience generated €1,423 million (38% of net revenue), Places €1,337 million (36%), Mobility €906 million (24%), and Intelligence €94 million (2%).[5] [1][12][15][13][14][16][5][5][5][5][5][5][5][5][8][9][10][11][17][18]
Geographic presence
Arcadis reported FY2025 net revenue of €3,760 million, attributed by country or area of origin. North America accounted for approximately 44.1% of revenue (United States 37.1%, Canada 7.0%); the UK and Ireland contributed 22.1%; continental Europe 22.3%; Asia and Australia together 8.3%; and Latin America 3.3%. These regional shares are calculated from the company’s reported country-and-area figures.[19] The company identifies North America, Latin America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and Australia Pacific as its geographic regions.[3]
Arcadis reported operations in more than 30 countries and 32,495 employees in 2025; its workforce disclosure does not provide a regional or country-level employee breakdown.[6] Its careers locations page groups locations across Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, and Australia.[20] [19][3][6][20]
Business segments
Arcadis’s latest reported segment mix, in H1 2026, comprises three Global Business Areas: Resilience (38% of net revenue), Places (35%) and Mobility (27%).[21] In FY2025, the company reported four areas: Resilience (€1,423 million; 38%), Places (€1,337 million; 36%), Mobility (€906 million; 24%) and Intelligence (€94 million; 2%).[5] Intelligence was not shown as a standalone area in the H1 2026 breakdown.[21]
Resilience covers areas including water, climate adaptation, environmental remediation and the energy transition.[16][22][23][24] Places includes built-environment work, with company examples in industrial manufacturing and pharmaceuticals; the company also discusses Property & Investment as a business line.[25][26] Mobility focuses on transport infrastructure, including roads, ports and rail.[27][28] [5][5][5][5][5][5][5][5][16][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][21]
Company history
ARCADIS traces its origins to the Netherlands, where Nederlandsche Heidemaatschappij was founded on 5 January 1888 to reclaim land for agriculture. It expanded into water and infrastructure services in 1959 and urban development in 1960, then split into two entities in 1974.[29][30]
A 1993 merger with U.S. environmental firm Geraghty & Miller marked a major step in its international expansion. The company listed in Amsterdam in 1995 and adopted the Arcadis name in 1997. It subsequently broadened its architecture, design, environmental and engineering capabilities through acquisitions including RTKL in 2007, Malcolm Pirnie in 2009, EC Harris in 2011, Langdon & Seah in 2012, and Hyder Consulting and Callison in 2014.[29][31][30][32]
In 2022, Arcadis acquired IBI Group, DPS Group and Giftge Consulting, extending its capabilities in digital services, advanced technology facilities and specialist engineering.[29][30] [29][31][30][32]
