Company history
ANDRITZ traces its origins to 1852, when Josef Körösi established a foundry and machine works in Andritz, near Graz. The business became a stock corporation in 1900. A 1949 cooperation with Escher Wyss expanded its work into water turbines, pumps, cranes, and steel structures, and it began producing complete paper machines in 1951.[5]
After majority ownership changes in 1950 and 1987, acquisition-led expansion began with Sprout-Bauer in 1990. The company went public on the Vienna Stock Exchange in 2001; later significant additions included Ahlstrom Machinery Group in 2000, VA TECH HYDRO in 2006, Schuler in 2013, and Xerium Technologies in 2018.[5][27][28][29] In 2022, Joachim Schönbeck became President and CEO, succeeding Wolfgang Leitner, who had led the company as CEO for 27 years.[30] [5][27][28][29][30]
