Overview

Addtech AB is a Swedish-listed industrial technology group whose independent companies supply high-tech products and technical solutions, primarily to manufacturing and infrastructure customers. Its businesses span automation, electrification, energy, industrial solutions and process technology. Addtech’s stated vision is to be a leader in value-adding technical solutions for a sustainable tomorrow.[1]

The group operates in about 20 countries and exports to roughly 20 more, with the Nordic countries forming an important part of its market. In the financial year ended March 2026, it reported net sales of SEK 22.7 billion and described its workforce as approximately 4,500 employees. Addtech has been listed independently since 2001; its B shares trade on the Stockholm stock exchange.[5] [1]

Products & services

Addtech’s automation offerings include industrial IT and communications equipment, embedded computers and control systems, sensors, machine-vision products, cybersecurity, and motion and drive components. Its subsidiaries also provide customized linear-motion controls, production cells and electrical cabinets. Electrification products range from battery cells, packs and energy-storage systems to motors, electronics, powertrains and power- and signal-transmission solutions. Battery-related services include development, testing and validation.[10] [10]

Geographic presence

Addtech is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, and has operations in approximately 20 countries, with exports to approximately 20 more. Its principal markets are the Nordic countries—Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway—alongside Germany, the UK and other European markets.[29]

In the financial year ended March 2025, sales by customer location were SEK 5,763 million in Sweden, SEK 2,742 million in Denmark, SEK 2,354 million in Finland and SEK 2,417 million in Norway. Together, these Nordic markets accounted for about 61% of revenue. Sales were also SEK 1,701 million in Germany, SEK 1,254 million in the UK, SEK 3,603 million in the rest of Europe and SEK 1,962 million in other countries.[32]

At year-end, Addtech had 4,534 employees: 1,346 in Sweden, 542 in Denmark, 548 in Finland, 463 in Norway, 1,442 elsewhere in Europe and 193 in other countries.[33] [29]

Business segments

Addtech reports six business areas. In fiscal 2025/26, Automation accounted for approximately 15% of group net sales and supplied industrial automation products and solutions, including control systems, sensors and communications equipment. Electrification contributed approximately 16%, focusing on batteries, electric drivetrains and power and signal transmission. Energy contributed approximately 18%, primarily through products for electricity grids and electrical infrastructure.[34]

Industry was the largest area at approximately 20% of group net sales, serving applications including forestry, specialised vehicles, recycling and mechanical engineering. Process contributed approximately 18%, with products and systems for measuring, controlling and improving industrial flows. Safety contributed approximately 13%, supplying solutions intended to protect people, property and critical infrastructure. These percentages use reported group net sales as the denominator; small group-level adjustments mean the business-area shares do not sum to exactly 100%.[34] [34]

Company history

Addtech traces its origins to Bergman & Beving, founded in 1906 by engineers Arvid Bergman and Fritz Beving to supply technical products to Swedish industry. Addtech became an independent company when Bergman & Beving was split up, and its B shares were first listed on the Stockholm exchange on 3 September 2001.[8][41]

Acquisitions were an established part of Addtech’s development by the early 2000s: its 2003/04 annual report described approximately 40 operating companies and said roughly 40 companies had been acquired over the preceding decade. Johan Sjö became CEO in 2008, succeeding Roger Bergqvist. In 2016, Addtech separated its Life Science business by distributing shares in AddLife, which was listed independently. Niklas Stenberg succeeded Sjö as CEO in 2018, and Addtech created an Automation business area in 2019 by splitting it from Components.[42] [8]
