Overview

Acerinox is a global metals manufacturer in the stainless-steel and high-performance-alloys sector. Its principal products include flat and long stainless-steel products and specialty alloys, used across a range of industrial applications.[1]

The company’s manufacturing footprint spans Europe, the United States and South Africa, and it reports sales in more than 80 countries. Its stated purpose is to lead globally in stainless steel and high-performance alloys, developing materials for applications and contributing to sustainable progress and quality of life.[4]

In FY2025, Acerinox reported consolidated net sales of €5,781 million and 9,139 employees.[7][8] [7]

Products & services

Acerinox’s products include stainless-steel flat products—plate, hot- and cold-rolled coil and sheet, strip, flat bar and discs—and long products such as wire, wire rod, bars, profiles, angles, reinforcement products and welding consumables. Its stainless-steel range includes austenitic, ferritic, duplex and martensitic grades.[1] Examples include grade EN 1.4401 / AISI 316 and colour-coated wire in grades 1.4301 (304) and 1.4401 (316). Listed specifications include profile cut lengths of 50–6,000 mm and a maximum cold-rolled-coil weight of 19 kg per millimetre of width; specifications vary by product.[10]

The company also offers high-performance alloys, including nickel-, cobalt- and zirconium-based materials and special stainless steels. Haynes International lists product forms including sheet and plate, bar and billet, pipe and tubing, wire, welding consumables, fittings and flanges. Acerinox provides customer access to its commercial network for product and material advice and inquiries about other sizes or specifications.[3] For 2025, stainless steel segment revenue was €4,143.8 million and high-performance-alloy segment revenue was €1,705.2 million, approximately 70.8% and 29.1%, respectively, of group revenue of €5,851.3 million. These are calculated revenue shares by segment, not product-family or volume shares.[16] [16]

Geographic presence

Acerinox’s FY2025 executive summary describes operations in 52 countries, while the company says its products are sold in more than 80 countries. Its stated footprint includes 28 service centres, 27 warehouses and 70 commercial offices.[17][18]

The company describes its manufacturing network as 15 factories across three continents. Its factory directory identifies production locations in Spain, the United States, South Africa and Germany, including Acerinox Europa, Roldan and Inoxfil in Spain; North American Stainless and Haynes International in the United States; Columbus Stainless in South Africa; and VDM Metals in Germany and the United States.[18][4]

FY2025 consolidated accounts list group companies registered across a wider set of countries, including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States; these registered locations do not necessarily represent manufacturing sites.[19] The year-end employee table reports 9,156 employees globally but does not provide a country-by-country distribution.[20] [19]

Business segments

Acerinox reports two business segments: **Stainless steel** and **High-Performance Alloys (HPA)**. Stainless steel covers integrated production and sales of flat and long stainless-steel products: the company identifies three flat-product plants and two long-product plants across Europe, the United States and South Africa.[5] HPA comprises VDM Metals and Haynes International, focused on specialty materials including nickel-, cobalt- and zirconium-based alloys, special stainless steels, and alloys designed for high-temperature and corrosive environments.[3][21]

For FY2025, reported segment revenue after intersegment eliminations was €4,143.8 million for Stainless steel and €1,703.0 million for HPA, approximately **70.8% and 29.1%**, respectively, of group revenue of €5,851.3 million; the segment table also shows €4.6 million unallocated revenue.[16] Segment EBITDA was €219 million for Stainless steel and €135 million for HPA—about **61.9% and 38.1%** of group EBITDA of €354 million.[22] In H1 2026, divisional EBITDA was approximately €236 million for Stainless steel and €35 million for HPA, or about **87% and 13%** of group EBITDA of €271 million.[24] [16]

Company history

Acerinox was founded in Spain in 1970. In 1994, it acquired a 95% stake in North American Stainless (NAS), extending its operations into the United States [5][27]. In 2002, NAS’s melting shop began operating and South Africa’s Columbus Stainless joined the group, establishing an integrated industrial presence across Europe, North America and Africa [28]. Acerinox expanded into Asia with the commissioning of Bahru Stainless in Malaysia, which processed its first coil in December 2010 [29].

In 2020, Acerinox completed its acquisition of VDM Metals, expanding its portfolio into specialty alloys [30]. In 2024, it completed the acquisition of Haynes International, while Bahru Stainless ceased activity and was subsequently sold [31][32]. [5]
