Overview

ACCIONA S.A. is a global sustainable-infrastructure and renewable-energy group. Its activities span energy, transport, water, social infrastructure, cities and real estate, alongside financial services; its Energy and Nordex businesses include renewable power and wind-turbine-related activities.[1] The company describes its purpose as contributing to the sustainable development of society and the planet through its business.[5][6]

ACCIONA reports operating in more than 60 countries. For the year ended 31 December 2025, it recorded consolidated turnover of €20.24 billion and a workforce of 68,502 FTE.[7] [3]

Products & services

ACCIONA Energía generates electricity from wind, hydro, solar PV, biomass, concentrated solar power and storage. At year-end 2025, its installed generation capacity was 14,604 MW; projects under construction included wind and solar PV developments in the Philippines, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Spain.[10][11] The group also reports Nordex, which designs, develops, manufactures, sells and services wind turbines and components.[12]

ACCIONA’s water services include desalination and drinking-water and wastewater-treatment plant construction, management of the water cycle from catchment and treatment through purification and return to the environment, and operation of water-service concessions.[13] Examples include the Fouka seawater desalination plant in Algeria, Atotonilco wastewater-treatment plant in Mexico, and Shuqaiq 3, a seawater reverse-osmosis plant whose scope includes design, financing, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance.[14] Its construction offering includes infrastructure projects and turnkey/EPC work for power plants and other facilities.[15] Infrastructure service examples include the SR400 express lanes, covering design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance, and São Paulo Metro Line 6, including civil works, systems, rolling stock, operation and maintenance.[16] In FY2025, Construction revenue was €6,949 million, up 4.0%, and Water revenue was €1,385 million, up 16.5%; these are business-line figures, not product-level revenue shares.[17][18] [10]

Geographic presence

ACCIONA reported operations in 60 countries and a workforce of 68,502 professionals in 2025; the workforce was reported as FTE in the FY2025 results presentation. No country-by-country employee distribution is provided in the cited materials.[19][9]

The geographic revenue figures available here are for ACCIONA’s Construction business, not consolidated Group revenue: Australia accounted for 42%, Spain 18%, Brazil 8%, Chile 6%, Poland 6%, Canada 5% and the United States 4%.[20][21]

The project footprint spans multiple regions. FY2025 concessions schedules include transport projects in Spain, the United States, Peru, Brazil, Australia, Mexico and Chile, and water assets in Spain, Algeria, Mexico, Australia, Peru, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Brazil. These schedules include both consolidated projects and equity-method investments. ACCIONA Energía’s country-specific wind metrics also cover markets including Spain, Canada, the United States, India, Mexico, Costa Rica, Australia, Poland, Croatia, Portugal, Italy, Chile, South Africa and Peru; these are Energy-division figures rather than a standalone parent-company footprint.[16] [9]

Business segments

ACCIONA’s FY2025 reporting identifies ACCIONA Energía, Infrastructure, Nordex and Other Activities as its principal business headings. Infrastructure is further divided into Construction, Concessions, Water, and Urban & Environmental Services; Other Activities includes Living (property development) and Bestinver.[23]

Based on FY2025 revenue, ACCIONA Energía generated €2.930bn, approximately 14.5% of Group revenue (€20.236bn).[24][8] Infrastructure generated €8.690bn, approximately 43.0%; its reported revenue components were Construction (€6.949bn), Concessions (€175m), Water (€1.385bn), and Urban & Environmental Services (€222m), with consolidation adjustments.[25] Nordex, the wind-turbine business, generated €7.554bn, approximately 37.3% of Group revenue.[26][27] Percentages are approximate segment revenue divided by consolidated Group revenue and are not a complete additive allocation because adjustments apply.

Other Activities includes Living, whose FY2025 EBITDA was €84m, and Bestinver, which reported average assets under management of €7.124bn; the cited figures do not provide a revenue subtotal for this heading.[28] The H1 2026 results reported ACCIONA Energía revenue of €1.29bn (about 12.7% of Group revenue) and Nordex revenue of €3.767bn (about 37.1%); Infrastructure revenue grew 12.2% in the period.[29][30] [23]

Company history

ACCIONA’s history draws on several Spanish predecessors: MZOV was founded in 1862, Entrecanales y Távora was established by José Entrecanales Ibarra and Manuel Távora in 1931, and Cubiertas y Tejados was founded in 1916 before combining with MZOV to form Cubiertas y MZOV. The modern ACCIONA group was created in 1997 through the union of Entrecanales y Távora and Cubiertas y MZOV.[31]

The company began developing renewable energy early, building a wind farm in Tarifa in 1993; it expanded internationally during the following decade, including operations in Italy and Poland from 1999 and Canada from 2000. In 2002 it acquired ferry operator Trasmediterránea, and in 2004 adopted the ACCIONA brand.[32]

ACCIONA reshaped its energy and transport portfolio in the 2010s: Nordex acquired ACCIONA Windpower in 2016, and ACCIONA agreed to sell its stake in Trasmediterránea in 2017. In 2021, its renewable-energy business, ACCIONA Energía, began trading on Spanish exchanges. ACCIONA later increased its Nordex holding and began consolidating the company in 2023.[37] [31]
