It served clients in more than 120 countries and had offices and operations in 52 countries, across more than 200 cities. Company history

Accenture traces its origins to Andersen Consulting, established in 1989 as the consulting business of Arthur Andersen.[24] In 2000, an arbitration ruling formally separated Andersen Consulting from Andersen Worldwide, and the business announced Accenture as its new name, effective January 1, 2001.[25][26]

Accenture went public on July 19, 2001.[27] In 2000, it and Microsoft established Avanade as a joint venture.[28] In 2009, Accenture plc became the parent holding company, with Accenture Ltd as its wholly owned subsidiary.[29]

From 2013, Accenture identified digital capabilities as a strategic focus and expanded its design and innovation capabilities through its acquisition of Fjord.[30][31] In 2015, it announced the acquisition of Cloud Sherpas to expand its enterprise-cloud capabilities.[32] In 2026, Accenture completed its acquisition of AI firm Faculty.[33] [24]
