## Products & services

Spire’s principal product is regulated natural-gas distribution to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Its utilities also transport gas for some larger customers that purchase their own wholesale supply. The service territories described in company reporting include parts of Missouri, Alabama, and Mississippi. [3](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P69948327)[7](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P146915203) Before its fiscal 2026 sales of Spire Marketing and Spire Storage, its other offerings included non-regulated natural-gas marketing and related sales supported by storage contracts, plus natural-gas storage and transportation through Spire Storage, Spire STL Pipeline, and Spire MoGas Pipeline. [3](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P69948327)[8](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P146915068)

A company project document describes Spire STL Pipeline as approximately 65 miles long, with designed firm transportation capacity of 400,000 dekatherms per day. [9](https://www.spireenergy.com/sites/default/files/2018-12/8-13-18%20Spire%20STL_Implementation%20Plan_8.13.18.pdf) In fiscal 2025, external-customer revenue was reported as $2,207.5 million for Gas Utility, $157.2 million for Gas Marketing, and $109.2 million for Midstream, out of $2,476.4 million total—approximately 89.1%, 6.3%, and 4.4%, respectively. These are calculated shares of reported segment revenue for fiscal 2025, before the fiscal 2026 divestitures noted above. [5](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=T10981773)

Spire’s FY2026 reporting describes natural-gas utility service in Missouri, Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi. Spire Missouri serves St. Louis, Kansas City and other parts of Missouri; Spire Alabama serves central and northern Alabama, including Birmingham and Montgomery; Spire Tennessee serves Middle Tennessee, including the Nashville area; and Spire Gulf serves southern Alabama. [11](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P146915071)[7](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P146915203)[12](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P146915205)[13](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P146915210) As of June 30, 2026, Spire Mississippi was classified as held for sale, so its inclusion reflects the reported FY2026 footprint rather than an unqualified description of ongoing operations. ## Company history

Spire’s corporate roots date to 1857, when Laclede Gas Light Company was established by an act of the Missouri legislature. In 2001, The Laclede Group became the holding company for Laclede Gas. Suzanne Sitherwood became president and CEO in 2012; the company expanded its Missouri operations by acquiring Missouri Gas Energy assets in 2013 and broadened its reach into Alabama with the 2014 acquisition of Alabama Gas Corporation. In 2016, The Laclede Group adopted the name Spire and acquired Mobile Gas and Willmut Gas; in 2017, its five natural-gas utilities announced they would operate under the Spire name. Spire placed the Spire STL Pipeline into service in 2019 and acquired the MoGas and Omega pipeline systems in 2024. Scott Doyle became president and CEO in 2025, succeeding Sitherwood. In 2026, Spire completed its acquisition of Duke Energy’s Tennessee Piedmont Natural Gas business, followed by sales of its gas-marketing business and its Wyoming and Oklahoma storage businesses.
