## Overview

SBM Offshore is an offshore energy infrastructure company specializing in floating production solutions, particularly FPSOs—floating production, storage and offloading vessels. Its services span the design, delivery, installation, operation, maintenance and life extension of these assets. [1](https://www.sbmoffshore.com/what-we-do/fpso-operations/) Its activities and locations extend across regions including Asia, the Americas, Europe and Africa, with FPSOs operating in countries such as Brazil, Angola, Malaysia, the United States and Equatorial Guinea. The company states its purpose as “to share its experience for a better blue tomorrow,” and traces its ocean-infrastructure and floating-solutions expertise to 1959. [4](https://annualreport.sbmoffshore.com/business-environment/strategy-and-value-creation/purpose-and-promise)[5](https://www.sbmoffshore.com/who-we-are/) In FY2025, SBM Offshore reported IFRS revenue of US$5.903 billion and 6,851 employees at year-end. ## Products & services

SBM Offshore’s principal product is the floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO). It delivers FPSOs through turnkey construction or lease-and-operate arrangements, with services spanning design, supply, installation, operation, maintenance, repair and life extension. Its operating fleet includes named units such as Liza Unity, Prosperity, Almirante Tamandaré, Alexandre de Gusmão and ONE GUYANA. [3](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=T676487)[1](https://www.sbmoffshore.com/what-we-do/fpso-operations/)

Fast4Ward® is SBM’s standardized FPSO program, based on multi-purpose floater hulls intended to support repeatable project delivery. The company is also developing FPSO designs that integrate carbon capture and storage and other emissions-reduction technologies; its 2025 report describes potential lifecycle-emissions reductions of up to 80%. Project-specific capabilities include high gas-processing capacity: SBM described the proposed Longtail FPSO as having the highest gas-handling capacity it had deployed, if approved. [8](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P17031377)[9](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P103271771)[10](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P34688545)

Through Imodco, SBM supplies offshore loading terminals and mooring systems. Its CALM buoy combines tanker mooring with fluid transfer while allowing the vessel to weathervane; its Tower Loading Unit is a single-point mooring option for applications including shallow water and harsh environments. Other offerings and development areas include turret mooring systems, offshore installation, floating offshore wind, floating energy hubs, carbon-injection and ammonia-transfer terminals, and digital services for offshore operations. Float4Wind™ is among its floating-wind solutions; a cited pilot involved three tension-leg floaters supporting 8.4-MW turbines. SBM reports revenue by delivery model rather than by individual product. In FY2025, Directional revenue was about US$5.066 billion: approximately 55% Turnkey and 45% Lease & Operate. In 1Q2026, Directional revenue was US$3.489 billion, comprising approximately 83% Turnkey and 17% Lease & Operate; these figures describe revenue categories, not product-specific profitability. ## Geographic presence

SBM Offshore’s operating footprint includes Brazil and Guyana, with established operations also in Angola and Equatorial Guinea. Its 2025 fleet included FPSOs in Brazil and Guyana; projects under construction or planned in Suriname and Mexico were listed with first-oil dates in 2028. [3](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=T676487) The company identifies shorebases in Georgetown, Rio de Janeiro, Santos and Luanda. [2](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P24020065)

The FY2025 report does not provide a consolidated revenue breakdown by country or region. It does report revenue for individual projects, including assets in Brazil and Guyana, but these figures are not geographic shares of group revenue. [21](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=T12173611)

At year-end 2025, SBM Offshore reported 6,851 employees globally, including 2,178 in Brazil, 805 in Monaco, 748 in India, 686 in Guyana, 635 in the Netherlands, 515 in Portugal, 501 in Angola, and 400 in Malaysia. [7](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=T6604842) Its reported locations include offices or operating locations in China, Singapore, Malaysia, India, the United States, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, Monaco, France, Suriname, Brazil, Namibia and Angola; the company’s contact page lists offices in Monaco, Houston, Singapore and Rio de Janeiro. ## Business segments

SBM Offshore reports two operating segments: **Lease and Operate**, which generates charter and other fees from leasing and operating production vessels, and **Turnkey**, which covers supply contracts and after-sales work, including production and mooring systems, deepwater export and fluid-transfer systems, terminals, design and equipment, and brownfield activities. The company’s floating offshore-wind partnership and other new-energy activities are included in Turnkey. [23](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P92164751)[24](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P62881101)

## Company history

SBM Offshore traces its offshore-mooring roots to a 1959 order for a single-point mooring system for Shell offshore Indonesia. The company was formed as Single Buoy Moorings Inc. in 1969, and in 1986 its parent acquired IMODCO, a major competitor in single-point mooring systems. After divesting its shipbuilding activities, IHC Caland changed its name to SBM Offshore N.V. in 2005. In 2012, SBM sold GustoMSC, another part of its engineering heritage. Later milestones included launching the Fast4Ward® FPSO program in 2016, entering floating offshore wind through its Wind Floater program in 2018, and recording first oil for its first Fast4Ward® FPSO in 2022. In 2023, SBM recorded delivery of the Provence Grand Large floating-wind pilot farm. In 2024, it and Technip Energies formalized Ekwil, a 50/50 joint venture focused on floating offshore wind.
