## Company history

ROCKWOOL Group traces its roots to a gravel business started by H.J. Henriksen and Valdemar Kähler in 1909. After a 1935 study tour introduced the founders to stone-wool technology, production began at Hedehusene, Denmark, in 1937. The Group expanded beyond Scandinavia with German production in 1954, began making stone-wool growing media in 1969, and expanded into France in 1980.
