## Company history

RadNet was founded in 1981 by six physicians, including Howard G. Berger, and opened its first imaging center near Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. In 1990, Berger and Michael Krane bought out the other four partners. The company’s expansion accelerated after it was acquired by Primedex Health Systems in June 1992; Primedex shifted its focus to diagnostic imaging in 1993 and expanded through acquisitions including Tower Imaging in 1994 and Diagnostic Imaging Systems beginning in 1996. [6](https://www.radnet.com/about-radnet/history)

In 2006, Primedex acquired Radiologix and changed its name to RadNet, Inc.
