## Company history

Inchcape traces its origins to 1847, when William Mackinnon and Robert Mackenzie formed the trading partnership Mackinnon Mackenzie & Company. The Inchcape Group itself was established in 1958 as Inchcape & Co. Ltd.; its subsequent expansion included the Borneo Company in 1967 and Dodwell in 1972.
