## Company history

HOCHTIEF traces its origins to 1873, when brothers Philipp and Balthasar Helfmann established a construction business in Frankfurt; it became a joint-stock company in 1896 and adopted the HOCHTIEF name in 1923 after joining the Stinnes Group the year before.
