## Company history

Halma’s origins date to 1894, when it was established in Ceylon, now Sri Lanka, as The Nahalma Tea Estate Company Limited. The business shifted from tea to rubber in 1937, but its estates were nationalised in the early 1950s; in 1956 it was renamed Halma Investments Limited, marking the break from its plantation-era roots.
