"text": "Chesapeake Utilities provides natural-gas distribution in Delaware, Maryland and Florida, and electric distribution in Florida. Its natural-gas transmission and supply offerings include pipeline transportation through Eastern Shore and Peninsula Pipeline, and gas gathering, processing and supply through Aspire Energy. Aspire operates about 2,800 miles of pipelines across 40 Ohio counties; it also transports landfill renewable natural gas (RNG), which represented about 10% of its gas-gathering volumes in 2025. [T8886057][P26387358]\n\nThe company sells propane to residential, commercial and industrial, wholesale, and AutoGas customers. Delivery options include bulk deliveries to customer tanks and metered service through underground distribution systems or tank meters; AutoGas offerings include fleet-vehicle conversion systems and on-site fueling infrastructure. Through Marlin Gas Services, it also provides mobile compressed natural gas (CNG) and RNG, temporary gas supply, emergency pipeline-response and other virtual-pipeline services. Its equipment includes CNG trailers, mobile compression units, and LNG tankers and vaporizers; a patented regulator system can deliver more than 7,000 Dts/d. [P80738475][P10608453]\n\nIts Eight Flags facility on Amelia Island, Florida, is a natural-gas-fueled combined heat and power plant that produces approximately 21 MW of electricity and 75,000 lb/hour of steam, sold under separate 20-year contracts. In the six months ended June 30, 2026, regulated energy accounted for $412.4 million, or 74.3%, of revenue from unaffiliated customers, and unregulated energy for $142.6 million, or 25.7%. These are broad business-category shares, not product-level percentages. [P77867906][T17220388]\n[T8886057][P26387358][P80738475][P10608453][P77867906][T17220388]",

"text": "Chesapeake Utilities reports two operating segments. **Regulated Energy** comprises regulated natural-gas and electric distribution and natural-gas transmission businesses; its rates are generally set by state public service commissions, with interstate pipeline rates set by FERC. Its activities include natural-gas distribution in Delaware, Florida and Maryland, electric distribution in Florida, and pipeline transmission. [T17220384][P39347767] **Unregulated Energy** includes wholesale natural gas and gathering, propane distribution, energy generation, and compressed and renewable natural-gas services; its revenues are not subject to federal, state or local pricing regulation. [T17220384][P22116059]\n\nBy operating revenue from unaffiliated customers, Regulated Energy contributed approximately **73.7%** and Unregulated Energy **26.3%** in fiscal 2025 ($685.7 million and $244.3 million, respectively, of $930.2 million). [T7148918] In the six months ended June 30, 2026, their contributions were approximately **74.3%** and **25.7%**, respectively ($412.4 million and $142.6 million of $555.0 million). [T17220388] The company also presents **Other and Eliminations** as a reconciling category, principally reflecting intercompany eliminations; it represented $0.2 million of unaffiliated-customer revenue in 2025 and none in the first half of 2026. "type": "HISTORY",
"text": "Chesapeake Utilities traces its roots to Dover Gas Light Company, founded in Dover, Delaware, in 1859; Chesapeake Utilities Corporation was incorporated in Delaware in 1947. Eastern Shore Natural Gas was incorporated in 1955 and later extended a pipeline from Pennsylvania to Salisbury, Maryland, as the company’s operations transitioned from propane to natural gas. [https://www.chpk.com/about-us/]\n\nThe company began expanding beyond its original gas business with its first propane-company acquisition, Mitchell’s Gas Service, in 1980. Later milestones included Central Florida Gas’s service-area expansion in 1998 and the 2009 acquisition of Florida Public Utilities. In 2013, Chesapeake acquired Eastern Shore Gas and related propane assets in Worcester County, Maryland; in 2015, it merged Gatherco into its Aspire Energy subsidiary. Jeffry M. Householder became president and CEO in 2019, succeeding Michael P. McMasters. Chesapeake completed its acquisition of Florida City Gas in November 2023.
