      "text": "Bridgestone traces its origins to a tire made in 1930 by the tire division of Japan Tabi. Shojiro Ishibashi established the division as Bridgestone Tire Co., Ltd. in Kurume, Japan, on March 1, 1931. The company expanded production after World War II, opening a Tokyo plant in 1960, an overseas plant in Singapore in 1965 and a U.S. sales company in 1967. It introduced its first passenger-car radial tire in 1967.
